Welcome to HR amigos GS Website

AND SO WE CONTINUE INTO 2025………

2024 saw another successful year for Amigos Golf Society and that’s largely down to your magnificent support for all of our Competitions. So much so that we regularly take 50-60 Golfers to each game, be it in: Murcia, Alicante or Almeria, and the enquiries we receive to join us always sustains those numbers. It is good to keep our competitions ‘fresh’ by the introduction of new players who are so very welcome.
The newly introduced ‘Race to La Finca’ provides competition throughout the year, no matter how many games you play, and does challenge everyone. Monthly Winners are rewarded with special logo’s Golf Balls to keep the competition in the spotlight. However, the more you play the more opportunity there is to win the ’Grand Prize’! We await to present the prizes to the Tier Winners and eventual Champion in Jan’25, and we are already doing it all again with the ‘Race to Alicante’ for 2025.
The ‘Amigos Anniversary Cup Away Day to Alicante’ in May, was cause for much celebration and arguably one of the best ever. Congratulations Liz McReynolds on your win. And now, due to your positive responses we take the Competition to La Envia, Almeria where arrangements are well under way. Don’t miss out on this one come and do join us.

Matchplay format always provides us with a different golf challenge and our inaugural match versus a Golden Bear Team at Villamartin with evening reception at The Hub, Altaona proved to be very successful and highly enjoyable.  Whilst Amigos came second we now have a point to prove and the challenge continues in 2025 and features a replay at Mar Menor in June!
Always recognising consistent golf we award ‘Platinum Property Order of Merit’ Trophies every four months and acknowledge in 2024 Category 1 Winners, Ron Weller (Twice) and Dave Robinson and Category 2 Winners, Paul Best and Liz Murty, (twice). This, more Individual competition, will continue alongside our infamous Team Games!
It is an achievement, nay, an aspiration, to make the ‘Amigos Forties Club’ and dozens of you certainly have your name established on the list. Congratulations Dave Hughes, New Sierra, and Liz Murty, Vistabella, with your 45 Stableford Points topping that list in 2024.
Summer competitions saw an increase in numbers despite other attractions and shows an appetite for golf despite the hot weather.
Autumn was very very busy with some amazing venues that you enjoyed and the introduction of the ‘Platinum Fours’ was a coup. Well done Team 4 Mar Menorians, Shane Bordier, John Byrne, Tiina Hurst and Colin Peeke-Vout, on this inaugural competition played at Las Ramblas and well remembered for the tasty ‘goodie bags’!
Two ‘Holes-in-One’ within three weeks of each other meant so much to the individuals and our Society alike. Well played Steve Watts and Ron Weller at Saurines and Las Colinas respectively.
Do check out Amigos ‘Virtual Honours Boards’ on the website where all of our Trophy Winners are acknowledged and also peek at the photos in the gallery where you can see how much fun we have!
We apologise to those newer Amigos Debutants whom we may have embarrassed through not wearing the correct uniform! Our Amigos Golf Shirts have sold amazingly well, dozens and dozens of them, so much so that they appear frequently on golf courses throughout the World and even at the home of golf on that famous Swilcon Bridge at St Andrew’s, Scotland. Thank you Stuart Roden. We intend to showcase some of these wonderful locations soon.
2025, sees us continue with our style of golf competition and presentation across the region and having already successfully played Desert Springs we visit Aguilon in early October, both in Almeria and ‘up there’ with the best in Spain. And, in these days of escalating green fees we endeavour to bring you the best Society rates available and usually find some of the top golf courses are very competitive to our own local courses. Such a good reason to travel?
2025 also sees the BIG ONE, the bi-annual ‘Amigos Ryder Cup’ which this year will be held, not at Bethpage, but at Saurines Golf Course, a proven challenging quality golf course so well suited for this special event! At the time of writing we have well over 50 registrations already so do put your name down soonest!
Whether you are a social media user or otherwise please do check out our ‘Amigos Golf Society’ FaceBook page where it is always a privilege to showcase our Winners. It is such a colourful display!
Being successful does have its drawbacks with so many wanting to play, and where patience is essential, whilst waiting for presentation, but we do try to arrange early and later starting times in rotation. We have reviewed our ‘Back Office’ procedures and simplified some arrangements so that we can be more up-to-date, especially with the ‘Have I booked…..’ facility.
You do seem to be more at ease with paying your ‘Green Fees’ by ‘Bank Transfer’ which will continue and hopefully we will become cashless. Well, apart from prizes!
Our Organisational expertise is always down to the guys, below, who voluntarily put themselves out to make your golf experience as seamless as possible week in and week out! Thank you Brian Platt, Iain Stewart, Harry Rice, Dave Hughes, Bob Lancaster and Graham Field with assistance from all of our onsite game day Helpers.
