10 OCT 24 RESULT FROM  -  ALTORREAL

Hola AMIGOS
Well, yesterday was quite eventful wasn’t it? I think some records were broken, the longest playing round ever, the longest wait for results ever, and the shortest presentation ever! Thank you all for your patience both on and off the golf course and whilst the impromptu introduction of another golf Society during our play time did bring about an apology from the Golf Course Organisers some of you later groups did come out of the situation smelling of roses, and you know who you are!? Did this affect your game?  Let’s see:-
Individual : Category 1
The returns were satisfactory without being outstanding and the narrow banding of scores showed consistency in this division.  Honourably mentions can be handed out to Emmet Loftus and Gordon Hutchinson, 34 Stableford points; Mick Lynch, 35 points and Sam McReynolds, 36 points just missing out on the top two with a slightly higher handicap. Well done everyone and especially to the winners who did just enough to secure the prizes:-

Winner : Dave Robinson :  37 points
Runner-Up : Damion Cox : 36 points (lower handicap 11.7)
Individual: Category 2
An average return from this group of golfers but showing a wider band of consistency between highest and lowest.  Honourable mentions are awarded to Anthony Gray, 34 points; and Gerry Burton and Nigel Smith 36 points and just missing out on prizes too due to a higher handicaps.  Well played everyone and especially the one/two, like Category 1 who did just enough:-

Winner :  Paul Best : 37 points
Runner-Up : Rudy Ceusters : 36 points (lower handicap 26.8)
Team Competition
With better-ball pairs scores totalled to give a Team score with bonus points added according to stroke indexes standard par of 120 Stableford points was what we were looking for. We are pleased to find the top 3 prize winning Teams surpassing this target and the others were not too far behind either. Well played everyone:-

Winners : Team 12 : 125 points
Dave Robinson,  Susan Tonnisen, Emmet Loftus and  Paul Best

Runners-Up : Team 15 : 124 points
Sam McReynolds, Dave Hughes, Bill Scarth and Bob Lancaster (ghost)
3rd Places : Team 3 : 121 points
Steve Perkins, Pauline Wood, Rob Buckey and Ros Hastings
Target shooting the Flags proved successful for Andy Duffield, Hole 8; Paul Taylor, Hole 9 ( in 3) and Hole 10 and Russell Fisher didn’t need the shot’s available on the stroke index 1 Par 5 11th Hole, a nice birdie Russ!  Joining Paul Taylor holing out for a Two on Hole 10 were Richard Deeley also on Hole 10 and Max Shirt on Hole 5.  Many congratulations.
Please do check out the website for your Individual computer confirmed scores in the next day or two.
No announcements were made yesterday but you all know by now the upcoming fixtures and special competitions so look forward to your company.
Many thanks to the Organisers and Helpers, Dave Hughes, Bob Lancaster, Harry Rice, Terry Wallington, Ron Weller and Simon Hastings and especially Iain Stewart and Brian Platts for waiting for so long to turn around the final results for you.
Thank you once again for your patience, endurance and support and so good to see so many Amigos back in Spain after the summer and contributing to an endearing atmosphere.
Phew, we now have a break, and look forward to seeing most of you Amigos back at El Plantio on Thursday 24 Oct’24.
Hasta luego
