13 FEB 25 RESULT FROM - LA TORRE
Hola AMIGOS
We were challenged today somewhat, weren’t we? A cold and windy start and when the wind abated and we ‘layered’ down to golf shirts the greens didn’t get any easier to play!
In fact they were somewhat disappointing and we ought to have expected a much better presentation.
So, despite the conditions and quality how did you play? Let’s see…
Individual Category 1
Not spectacular, in fact pretty average with low returns and a prize runner-up who would not generally get on stage! But all fair and square at Amigos! Mentioned in passing are Rob Buckey 32 points, Stephen Day and Iain Stewart, 33 points (h/c 15.6); well tried everyone. There is no mistaking the winner though, with an exceptional round of golf and light years ahead of everyone else in this category.
congratulations:-
Winner : Mel Prime : 37 points
Runner-Up : Martyn Clapp : 33 points (h/c 9.7)
Individual Category 2
More of the same I’m afraid but Nigel Horsfield, 32 points can be mentioned along with Susan Tonnisen, 34 points and the winners slugged it out on the same finishing score. Well played everyone and the prizes played out as follows:-
Winner : Damon White : 36 points (h/c 17.1)
Runner- Up : Graham Swift : 36 points (h/c 22.0)
Individual Category 3
And what a way to round off this Category with the very best return of the entire 60 assembled Amigos, this player was extremely happy, congratulations! Let’s give a mention to Mark Seed, 31 points and Bea Van Rijn, 32 points which illustrates the quality of the winning total!
Winner : Bente Hornshoej Hansen : 39 points
Runner-Up : Chris Dunne : 34 points
It was so pleasing to have 6 different marksmen shooting close to the 6 Flags today. Good work off the tees, Tracey Clapp, Hole 3; Mick Lynch, Hole 5; Graham Swift, Hole 11; Graeme Etherington, Hole 15 and Bea Van Rijn, Hole 17! But only 2 Two’s? Keeping their concentration to hole out for the magic number were Graham Swift, Hole 3 and Mel Prime on Hole. well played
Team Competition
Standard par for an Amigos Waltz (in 2-3-4 time) is 108 points and this proved tricky with only four Teams making it to three figures! But what a challenge it proved?
Winners : Team 7 : 105 points
Greg Colclough, Jane Hutchinson, Hazel Price and Chris Dunne
Runners-Up : Team 2 : 104 points (combined h/c 72)
Mel Prime, Stuart Ellis, Iain Stewart and Eddie Murty
3rd Places : Team 11 : 104 points (combined h/c 77)
Reg Hole, Poul Friis Hansen, Graham Swift and Sue Horsfield.
Othe rteam scores were: Team 14 - 100pts, Team 15 = 99pts, Team 4 = 98pts, Team 3 = 97pts, Teams 6/9/13 = 96pts, Teams 1/8 = 95pts, Team 5 = 94pts, Team 12 = 92pts, Team 10 = 91pts.
