13 MAR '25 RESULT FROM  -  LA SERENA

Hola AMIGOS
‘Wet balls’ are synonymous with playing La Serena due to the abundance of ditches, ponds and lakes but to add the horrendous showers and wind into the mix proved challenging to say the least!  Well played everyone who played and survived both the course and conditions!
But some golf was played as shown in the returned scorecards, but come on, 170 balls visiting the water!  😂 170 penalty shots! 😂
Individual Category 1
With the majority of scores over 30+ this was impressive, and can mention honourably, Stuart Ellis and Gordon Hutchinson, 33 Stableford points, Steve Burt, 34 and John Byrne,35. And not running away with high scores your one/two were respectable enough!  Congratulations everyone.

Winner : Martin Trevillion : 37 points
Runner-Up : Iain Stewart : 36 points
Individual Category 2
Again, some respectability was evident amongst the returns and Hazel Price and Wayne Goodwin are honourably mentioned with 33 points as is Vincent Brison with 34 points.
Congratulations everyone. 35 points doesn’t normally enter the prizes but so good to see this name on the podium and the winner achieved best of the day with a great round of golf. Well played everyone.

Winner :  Alan Leonard  : 38 points
Runner-Up : Gerry Burton: 35 points
Team Competition
Standard par of 108 was perhaps a target too far with the format and elimination from contributing to the Team score through crossing those red lines!  However, the 3 Teams exceeding the standard in prize positions deserved the accolades.

Winners : Team 6 : 115 points
Steve Burt, John Byrne, Gary Conway and Caz Clarke

Runners-Up : Team 8 : 113 points
Russell Fisher, Gordon Hutchinson, H Clark and Ken Sewell
3rd Places : Team 2 : 109 points
Grahame Bradbury, Iain Stewart, Hazel Price and Mick Brook.

Other team scores were: Team 1 = 107pts, Teams 10 & 11 = 100pts, Teams 5 & 12 = 99pts, Team 3 = 90pts, Team 6 = 82pts, Team 7 = 77pts, Team 9 = 73pts.
Short game skills were demonstrated by those Amigos closest to Pins, Mick Lynch, Hole 7 (In 3) and Hole 17, H Clark, Hole 9 and Damion Cox on Hole 13 (in 2) and sinking putts in two were Tony Foster on Hole 3 (stroke index 1!) and H on Hole 9.
Check out the results page on the website in a couple of days to see how you fared.
Let’s hope that we have seen the end of these storms by the time we play Font del Llop on Thursday 27 Mar’25 where we have availability and need your support. April sees us visit, Alhama Signature, Hacienda Riquelme and Mar Menor so please do register irrespective of whether these games are showing full as there does seem to be more ‘movement’ on the start sheets these days.
Thank yous are awarded to the Organising Team and Starters enduring everything from soggy scorecards to standing the worst of the weather and accommodating all of the changes, Harry Rice, Iain Stewart, Bob Lancaster, Dave Hughes, Brian Platt, Ron Weller (Happy Birthday),  Mick Lynch and presenter Hazel Price. And to all of you Amigos, Debutants, Regulars and Irregulars, expecting sunshine golf, and were served up with something altogether different!  But remember we do need rain in Spain!
And smiling through gritted teeth sheltering from the heaviest shower were Me, Tony Foster, Ali Burt and Shane Bordier.
Looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible at Font del Llop in two weeks time.
Hasta luego
Graham🤓👍
