01/02/24 CAMPOSOL

ARCHIVED RESULT FROM

Hola AMIGOS
Well, that was Camposol!  Some of you loved it but a lot were not keen on playing from the tight fairways and hard bunkers, despite the excellent greens.  However, we do like to introduce you Amigos to courses that you might not have played before, its part of the portfolio of 28 courses on the schedule for this year. The scores showed the challenges presented were tough but how did we do?
Category 1 : Individual
Less than half this division scored 30 Stableford points and above but there were some standout scores where tiny margins counted, many congratulations. Nicky Scarth and Lucy Hole are mentioned with 32 points and Iain Stewart, 36 and Steve Fitzpatrick, 37 honourable so.
Winner : Brian Platt : 38 points (on lower handicap, 12.1)
Runner-Up : Shane Bordier : 38 points (handicap, 12.3)
Category 2 : Individual
More modest scores but some good golf played despite it being tougher from these category players. Well done Graham Platts, 31 points and Tom Duncan, 33. The plaudits go to two players who might have thought higher returns would win but you never know, congratulations:-
Winner : Dave Hughes : 36 points
Runner-Up : Maria Bathe : 35 points

Team Competition
This was tough with the Captains (Player 1’s) having to score on every hole along with 2 out of 3 from the other team members but some of you Captains took to the additional pressure with aplomb s many congratulations to you. With standard par of 108 points only four teams exceeded same so well done.
Winners : Team 6 : 113 points
Captain Lucy Hole, Steve Fitzpatrick, Neville Custance and Maria Bathe
Runners-Up : Team 4 : 110 points
Captain Shane Bordier, Nicky Scarth, Henrik Tonnisen and Graham Field
3rd Place : Team 9 : 109 points (on combined lower handicap)
Reg Hole, Iain Stewart, Gordon Hutchinson and Dave Hughes
Other team scores were: Team 1 = 109pts, Team 8 = 98pts, Team 3 = 97pts, Team 2 = 94pts, Team 7 = 93pts, Team 5 = 89pts.
Sharpshooters, Iain Stewart, Hole 3; Dave Hughes, Mick Lynch and Damian Scholes, Hole 5, and  Damian Scholes again, Hole 8 but this time an Eagle Two! and Ian Dodd, Hole 11 gave us a lesson in target shooting.

With the return of Henrik Tonnisen to Spain it was a pleasure to present him with the Platinum Property Order of Merit Trophy for the period Sep-Dec’23. Amongst Team competitions it is a great achievement rewarded for individual consistency - Congratulations.
The Race to La Finca Competition runs through the whole of 2024 and maybe in its infancy, but the excitement will build up as the race for points builds up. Whilst the league tables cannot be assembled until after Feb’24 results have been collated, we have the scores for Jan 24 and we can acknowledge our first monthly winner, many congratulations Paul Best. The occasion acknowledged by a special edition sleeve of RtLF logo balls but the main prizes will be linked to the league table positions at the end of the year!
Come and join us on these courses, especially you rookies if you haven’t registered already, Villamartin Thursday 08 Feb’24, Roda Golf Thursday 22, La Marquesa Thursday 29 Feb’24. Please note that Lorca Golf, we were informed only yesterday, is closed temporarily and we are now likely to go to Alhama Signature instead, but will confirm with you in due course.
It was so good to welcome you new guys into the mix with the returnees, regulars and irregulars today and hope you all enjoyed each other’s company if not necessarily the golf!  And for those Amigos leaving us, thank you for joining in with us and hopefully see you again very soon.  Let’s hope our Amigos who withdrew through illness recover quickly.
Thank you to all of our Amigos Organisers and Helpers, you know who we are, many of whom have been ‘stretched’ this week to say the least!
Hasta luego
Graham
