ARCHIVED RESULT FROM
Hola Amigos,
Many congratulations AMIGOS you tore up Saurines Golf Course with some outstanding golf yesterday! The average score across 40 players was almost 34 points! And that was split equally between Category 1 and Category 2 Players. That is really some going!
Category 1 : Individual
36 points could only get you an honourable mention in this field. Well played Steve Fitzpatrick and Brian Platt, 36 points, Bob Lancaster, 37 points and just missing out on a prize by virtue of a higher handicap Harry Rice, 39 points. But many congratulations to our one/two with the winner joining the ‘Forties Club’:-
Winner : Emmett Loftus : 41 points
Runner-Up : John Burgess : 39 points
Category 2 : Individual
Again 39 points, yes 39 points, could only get you an honourable mention. Clearly a winning score on any another occasion surely? Very well played Kevin Sutton and Ken Sewell, 37 points, Pat Gingell, 38 points and Anthony Gray, Lee Hobson and Carol Brand, 39 points apiece. But the podium place Golfers both join the ‘Forties Club’ too with only goal difference separating them:-
Winner : Rudy Ceusters : 40 points
Runner-Up : John Fox : 40 points
Team Competition
With 108 points being standard par on this tricky ‘2 4 Echo’ stableford format, this didn’t phase you either with all but two Teams exceeding same. Congratulations for an outstanding team effort were:-
Winners : Team 10 : 125 points
Bob Lancaster, Harry Rice, Kevin Sutton and Anthony Gray
Runners-Up : Team 5 : 120 points
Tom Hogg, Dave Maskens, Mark Harrison and Patricia Gingell
A special mention goes to Team 2 with 15 points recorded on the very tricky Hole 10 and with four scores to count. Brilliant stuff Ron Weller, Rudy Ceusters, An Van Den Borre and Iain Stewart!
Other team scores were: Teams 2 & 6 = 118pts, Team 8 = 116pts, Team 1 = 115pts, Team 4 = 114pts, Team 7 = 109pts, Team 9 = 101pts and Team 3 = 98pts.
And the ‘Nearest the Pin’ sharpshooters were Hole 5 (In 2), David Wells; Hole 6, Dave Maskens; Hole 14, Ruud Woudstra and Hole 18 (In 3), Dave Maskens, good shots guys. And, despite the exceptional scoring only one ‘Two’ was recorded, Rudy Ceusters on Hole 10, but well played the ‘Charity Pot’!
Lets now turn our attention to Hacienda Riquelme next Thursday 08 Jun’23 and an inaugural matchplay competition at Villamartin against Golden Bear Golf Society (an event to mark their 10th Anniversary) with an evening Trophy presentation at El Cason with dinner and entertainment, followed by La Marquesa and Vistabella. Please do enter these competitions if you are in Spain by registering straight away or letting me know. Thank you, you guys who are leaving us for your Summer away days and a warm welcome to returning Amigos.
What a day!
Graham
