ARCHIVED RESULT FROM
Hola AMIGOS
We hope that you all enjoyed your day’s golf at Hacienda Riquelme today despite the cold but most of you seemed to be dressed for the ski slopes so you came prepared! But how did the conditions affect your performance? Without a doubt it did with some mediocre scores but highlighted here and there with some really good stuff.
Category 1 : Individual
Neville Custance, 31 points, Hans Nout, 31 and Colin Hynd, 34 are mentioned but the podium places were a family affair, congratulations
Winner : Mel Watson : 36 points
Runner-Up : Darren Bakes : 34 points (on lower handicap)
Category 2 : Individual
Nigel Smith’s return sees him mentioned with 32 points and well played Henrik Tonnisen with 34 points. However, the winners returns showed good golf was played but an outstanding display in the conditions by the number one golfer of the day was truly impressive.
Winner : Mick Lynch : 39 points
Runner-Up : Rudy Ceusters : 36 points
Team Competition
The complexity of the ‘Medalford Two’s and Three’s’ Competition whilst being tricky to grasp and with added pressures on all players to score on every hole contributed to some mixed results. Anticipating scores close to standard par of 18 with this format but looking for a lot less the results were widespread and in Category 1 only one Team came in below par. Congratulations:-
Winners : Team 2 : 14 points
Brian Platt, Andy Wasik, Darren Bakes and Neville Custance
Other Cat 1 Team scores were: Team 7 = 22pts, Team 1 = 26pts, Team 8 = 32pts, Team 9 = 34pts.
It is here in Category 2 though, where the real combined magic occurred. The score by the winning Team was incredible. We are in awe!
Winners : Team 7 : 1 point (Yes, plus 1!)
Colin Hynd, Henrik Tonnisen, Rudy Ceusters and Vincent Brison
And, another Category 2 Team returning an excellent low score worthy of being honourable mentioned is Team 11 with 5 points:-
Mick Lynch, Simon Hastings, Bob Lancaster and Bente Hornshoej.
Other Cat 2 Team scores were: Team 3 = 11pts, Team 10 = 18pts, Team 5 = 30pts, Team 6 = 38pts.
Target shooting was tough in the conditions and on tricky greens but these guys know how to get close!
Nearest the Pins:-
Hole 4 (In 3), Emmet Loftus; Hole 5, Hans Nout; Hole 6 (In 2), John Boyle and Hole 7, Darren Bakes.
Sinking those 2 putts were Darren Bakes and Chris Gibbons on Hole 7 and Emmett Loftus on Hole 15.
Well done to everyone else who played and supported the Amigos.
Next up is a trip to Font del Llop on Thursday 09 Mar’23 followed by La Serena on Thursday 23 Mar’23. And don’t forget the big ‘Away Day’ Anniversary Cup at Marina Playa In Mojacar on Thursday 25/26 May where we still have some places available. And finally honourably mentioned for standing out in the cold collecting monies and seeing you start are Harry Rice and Bob Lancaster and tucked away in the back office sorting out your challenging scorecards Brian Platt.
Good luck to those returning home as your 90-day sentences expire and look forward to seeing you next time around.
