Hola Amigos
Thank you all for supporting our competition at Alhama Signature yesterday, it was quite a picture seeing all of your Red Shirts on the new covered terrace! Whilst the anticipation and expectation of playing there did not quite match our previous visit it’s still good to see investment in building developments as well as minor details all still ongoing.  Now, did your golf match the quality of the consistently good bacon sandwiches?  Let’s see:-

Individual : Category 1
It’s always good to see consistently good scores from our elite golfers so, well played everyone in this category and Sam McReynolds and Lucy Hole, 33 Stableford points, Brian Platt, 34 and Ken O’Keeffe, 36 you are all honourably mentioned. But all the plaudits belong to the 1-2-3 which, yet again, includes an entrant into the Amigos Forties Club. Many congratulations:-

Runner-Up : Jonathan Thompson: 38 points
3rd Place : Terry Wallington : 37 points

Individual : Category 2
The returns were not quite so good as the top category players and can only honourably mention Ron Weller, 34 points but well done anyway.  There’s no doubting our Icelandic winner though with an exceptional score that put’s him into the Amigos Forties Club too!
Winner : Ragnar Hilmarsson : 40 points
Runner-Up : Jane Hutchinson : 35 points
3rd Place : Josie Aves : 34 points (Lower handicap)

Individual : Category 3
Anything can happen in this division and this week saw some excellent returns with worthy winners. Firstly though, Graham Field, 35 points, Carol Brand and Tom Duncan, 36 points and Liz Murty, 37, you are all honourably mentioned, congratulations. And also a big thumbs up to:-
Winner : Lynne Hynd  : 39 points (Lower handicap)
Runner-Up : Sylvia de Zwart : 39 points
3rd Place : Bob Lancaster : 38 points

Team Competition 
With the Magic 7’s Format and emphasis on every player in the Team to perform the results revealed both the magic and tragic!  Zero was a reasonable par score but we are in awe of the winning groups:-
Winners : Team 4 : +21 points 
Lucy Hole, Kirk Green, Ron Weller and Lynne Hynd
Runners-Up : Team 10 : +14 points
Ken O’Keeffe, David Henshall-Brown, Jane Hutchinson and Liz McReynolds
3rd Place : Team : +13 points
Brian Platt, Mick Lynch, Bob Lancaster and Tom Duncan.

Other team scores were: Team 8 = +8pts, Team 6 = +5pts, Team 12 = +1pts, Teams 3 & 13 = 0pts, Team 11 = -2pts, Team 1 = -3pts, Team 7 = -4pts, Team 5 = -6pts, Team 9 = -7pts, Team 2 = -12pts.

3 ‘Two’s’ were recorded, good shooting Steve Jones and Terry Wallington on Hole 3 and Jonathon Thompson on Hole 11.

Outside of Team golf, Amigos has a more serious edge and we are so pleased to honour Ron Weller for his excellent and consistent Individual golf played between January and April 2024 with the award of the Platinum Property Order of Merit Trophy, presented by Liz McReynolds. Many congratulations.
Next week sees us travel to Golf Altorreal on WEDNESDAY 08 May’24, reserve list only and we are all aware of the Amigos Anniversary Cup Away Day to Alicante Golf/Alicante Golf Hotel on 23/24 May’24 and we follow that with a competition at New Sierra Golf on Thursday 30 May’24 where there is availability.
