02/09/21 EL VALLE

ARCHIVED RESULT FROM

Hola Amigos,
Thank you for all your support today at El Valle and hope that our returnees and ‘new-boy’ Jonathan Brown were made welcome.
As is becoming the norm these days category 1 players seem to have the scoring edge over the category 2 players as the following results show and what a good day for the Lalleys and Hursts.

Category 1
Well done Caz Clarke and Emmett Loftus you are hereby honourably mentioned with 35 Stableford points but many congratulations go to our winner and ‘special’ runner-up:-
Winner : Stan Lalley : 37 points
Runner-Up : Alastair Sporne: 37 points

Alastair's score on the day was recorded as 36 points but further checking showed that 'adding up 9 numbers' is not his strong point and his front nine actually totalled 17 & not the reported 16 points - Congrats Alastair on a very honourable equal first 👍.

Category 2
Commendable efforts supported their top positions today:-
Winner : Dave Hooper : 34 points
Runner-Up : Lynn Lalley : 33 points.

Team Competition
Scoring was close but individual performances helped this team to the prizes:-
Winner : Team 3 : 106 points
Steve Hurst, Lynn Lalley, Dave Hooper and Tiina Hurst.

Other team scores were: Team 4 : 101 points, Team 5 : 90, Team 1 : 86 and Team 2 : 84.

And where have all the sharpshooters gone?  No one recorded a 2 today and at El Valle which means that the pot rolls over to next week at Golf Altorreal where it will total around €80,00!

The ‘special’ reference above relates to Alastair Sporne who took the Order of Merit Trophy for the period May-August with a record breaking high score of 189 points. That’s an average of 38 Stableford points scored over 5 games out of the maximum 8 and playing with a current handicap of 4.9! Incredible. Well done to our runners-up, Dave Robinson, 182, Gordon Hutchinson, 180 and Bob Lancaster, 176.  Good luck to you all for the final OOM of the year to end Dec’21.

Next week’s fixture at Golf Altorreal on Thursday 09 Sep’21 is reserves only with a full house expected to make the trip. As the greater majority of you live in or around the Hacienda Riquelme area the presentation and Ryder Cup draw will take place at El Cason so please do follow up your golf round there.
A short Amigos break will follow whilst final preparations are made for the Ryder Cup, made all the more difficult by GNK’s decision not to reopen Hacienda Riquelme in mid-Sep as previously advised, but at LA TORRE on 23 Sep’21.  This was only sprung on us this Monday! Please keep referring to the Ryder Cup website pages for details which will also be advised by email when available.
Well done to everyone who played today and see most of again next week.
Hasta pronto
Graham
