02/11/23 ALENDA

ARCHIVED RESULT FROM

Hola AMIGOS
Wasn’t yesterday’s visit to Alenda golf a thoroughly enjoyable occasion? You are a great bunch of Amigos and well deserving of an introduction, for most, to a great golf course in very good playing conditions and it was certainly worth the hour’s journey to play there. I think that the course is certainly ‘up there’ with the best in the Alicante region.
Did you tame the strong winds and return some good scores? Well, generally you were up for the challenge and the returns were quite respectable.

Category 1 : Individual
Mostly up and around standard par so a good first time, but with less wind and a second visit knowing the course layout those scores should improve substantially. Honourable mentions, Iain Stewart, 35 points and Steve Fitzpatrick and Mike Kitchen, 36 points but a cut above the rest were these category winners. The winner, though had his best game for a long time posting the best score of the day and joining the Forties Club, many congratulations:-
Winner : Colin Hynd : 42 points
Runner-Up : Grahame Bradbury : 39 points

Category 2 : Individual
Somewhat more modest scoring but still these guys are deserving of a mention, rookie Paul Chamberlain and David Wells, 34 points, well done. The two podium places were occupied by good golfers deserving of the accolades, congratulations:-
Winner : Richard Deeley : 37 points
Runner-Up : Liz Murty : 35 points

Team Competition
The format with only four opportunities to score bonus points according to the strokes indexes added pressure but in looking for a standard par of 140 points only two Teams bettered the target but the others were not far behind. Congratulations:-
Winners : Team 2 : 149 points
John Boyle, Colin Hynd, Eddie Murty and H Clarke
Runners-Up : Team 3 : 143 points
Emmett Loftus, Lynn Lalley, Richard Deeley and Liz Murty
Other team scores were: Team 6 = 138pts, Team 8 = 136pts, Teams 1, 9 & 10 = 132pts, Team 7 = 131pts, Team 5 = 129pts, Team 4 = 124pts.

Three guys knew how to target the Flags and recorded ‘two’s’. Well done Jon Thompson, Hole 3, John Boyle, Hole 5 and Grahame Bradbury, Hole 16.
Thank you everyone else who hopefully enjoyed playing the course albeit didn’t make the winning standard. Well played!

Next up we go to Golf Altorreal on Thursday 09 Nov’23, Altaona Village on 23 Nov’23 where we have availability. And due to a disappointing mix up with bookings and not enough buggies to go around I have re-scheduled Lorca to Alhama Signature on 30 Nov’23. Many reports have indicated that whilst conditions at Lorca have deteriorated substantially and would prove most disappointing for you by contrast Alhama Signature is in top class condition and extremely playable and worthy of taking you Amigos there. On the whole a good result but apologies to those who might have been looking forward to going to Lorca!
In between on Saturday 25 Nov’23 we have our annual Amigos v Sucina Golf Society matchplay competition at Hacienda Riquelme and will send more details in due course.
Thank you to all of our Organisers and Helpers whom you all know well for making the day go so smoothly
Please do keep registering for our games which offer so much variety that you can never get bored!
Hasta luego.
Graham
