03/09/20 SAURINES
ARCHIVED RESULT FROM
Hola Amigos,
Very sadly today’s game was overshadowed by the news that Hacienda Riquelme Golf Course is to close temporarily from 12 Sep’20. This has been confirmed to me by GNK in an email received this afternoon. It has been cited as a lack of golfers in the area and no doubt exacerbated by the restriction put on travel to Spain from, now, several European countries. The other three GNK course, La Torre, El Valle and Alhama Signature will remain open.
It was good to have Keith Fleet and Stan and Lynn Lalley playing with us for the first time and thank you for making them welcome.
It was a mixed bag of effort and results today at Saurines but these guys deserved special mentions: Brian Stobbs, 37 stableford points and Harry Rice, 34 points category 1 and 2 runners-up, but your winners are:-
Category 1
Winner : Terry Wallington : 40 points
Category 2
Winner : Richard MacDonald : 37 points
In the Team Competition Teams 3 and Team 5 tied but on countback and down to last 6 holes, Mick Lynch, Stan Lalley, Graham Field and John Mair surrendered prize money to:-
Runners-Up : 80 points:-
Terry Wallington, Dave Hooper, Mark Cochrane and Steve Cockeram.
But your winners with all of the accolades are:-
Team 2 : 84 points:-
Keith Fleet, Brian Stobbs, Harry Rice and Steve Cockeram.
As there was no Bar open at Saurines the presentation was made back at Hacienda Riquelme where understandably we lost a few Amigos, and those who won will paid out next week.
Having stated the above our next game at El Valle on 10 Sep’20 where I am expecting a full house is unaffected.
I have already moved and reserved our ex-Anniversary Competition from Hacienda to El Valle on Thursday 24 Sep’20. More news will be sent in due course.
Please do not worry Amigos we will still be playing our regular golf on a Thursday but expect some changes to venues along the way. And, if you haven’t visited the website recently please check out the fixtures for next year where we will bring you some exciting golf adventures to many favourite courses and also some new venues for us. An exciting future is lined up.
Looking forward to seeing many of you next week and apologies for bringing you such unfortunate news
Hasta luego
Graham.
