05/10/23 EL PLANTIO

ARCHIVED RESULT FROM

Hola AMIGOS
It’s always so good to introduce you Amigos to a new golf course and not only was El Plantio new to many of you, but to a course exuding quality with challenging holes, and some with stunning views, where the grass is really green and difficulties lie in the mature palm trees which line the wide fairways and no 'Tinas' anywhere!  And all played in ideal October weather!
But how did you play?  Well, you murdered the course with some staggering scores and only a handful were under 30 points!

Category 1 : Individual
Iain Stewart, 35 points and Rob Buckey and Andy Duffield, 38 points could only be honourably mentioned such was the quality of the field. And your familiar top two had to fight it out to determine a winner, but both earn entry into The Forties Club’. Again, I think!  Many congratulations to all in this category
Winner : Gail Duffield : 41 points (On lower handicap, 16.9)
Runner-Up : Gordon Hutchinson (Handicap, 19.1)

Category 2 : Individual
Trying hard to compete with category 1 players but showing a slightly lower edge, but again some amazing scores across the board.  Pauline Wood, Kevin Sutton, Brian Wood and Sus Tonnisen are mentioned and Ken Sewell, 34 points and David Wells, 36 points honourably so.  Well played everyone and especially the prize winning duo:-
Winner : Rudy Ceusters : 39 points
Runner-Up : Harry Rice : 37 points

Team Competition
108 points is standard par for this Team competition and even with a twist of a one player’s score having to count, based on stroke index, you all managed to get so so close if not surpassing it in style.  Well played everyone in supporting your Team.
Winners : Team 8 : 116 points
Ron Weller, John Burgess, Gordon Hutchinson and Harry Rice
Runners-Up : Team 2 : 115 points
Andy Duffield, Iain Stewart, Ruud Woudstra and Ken Sewell.
Other team scores were: Team 6 = 112pts, Team 4 = 109pts, Teams 5 & 7 = 108pts, Teams 1 & 3 = 107pts.

No NTPs were in play this week but congratulations go to our 2's scorers: Hole 7: Graham Field, Hole 9: Rob Buckey, Andy Reeves & Iain Stewart, Hole 14: Rob Buckey.

Lets look forward to the upcoming competitions, Hacienda del Alamo, 12 Oct’23; New Sierra (with it’s full 18 holes open) 26 Oct’23 and lets have an even better turnout for our visit to Alenda on 02 Nov’23.  Alenda, like El Plantio, will be a quality golf experience and well worth the visit and it’s really not too far away.  Please register or let me know soonest if not already committed as there are a few places available.

The euphoria of the AMIGOS RYDER CUP has now passed into history but hopefully we have captured some of those happy memories of the day for you and where you will find on the website, ‘archives and albums’, ‘photo albums’ and ‘amigos Ryder Cup – 2023’, enjoy!
What a day!
Graham
