Hola AMIGOS
It’s always so nice sitting on that Terrace overlooking the golf course with such good golf pals.  Thank you all for making the day so special. And, setting aside the idyllic views how was the golf today?  It was pretty good for the most part, special for a few and the year’s best for a couple of players.

Individual : Category 1
A mention and a couple of honourable mentions are certainly well deserved;  well done Greg Colclough, 34 points and many congratulations Gail Duffield, 37 points and Leonard O’Keeffe, 38 points but sadly not making the podium. The top two scores were tied and only separated by handicap status but what great rounds you had:-
Winner : Colin Walters : 39 points (handicap 11.3)
Runner-Up : Gary McAlpine : 39 points (handicap 12.4)

Individual : Category 2
Playing very very well these are worthy honourable mentions on a tough course, Ruud Woudstra, Andrew Smithurst and Vinny Gibbons, 35 points and even better were Stan Lalley, 36 points and Neil Crouch, 37 points.  However, saving their best skills of the year for La Finca nobody could compete with these two Amigos who will skip through ‘The Forties Club’ table.  The only disappointment is that they occurred on the same day.  Brilliant, nevertheless!
Winner : Graham Field : 46 points, (Yes 46 stableford points!)
Runner-Up : Rod Howarth : 43 points, (Yes 43 stableford points!)

Team Competition
Virtually all Teams exceeded standard par of 96 with today’s format and two Teams left it for dead! Team accolades go to:-
Winners : Team 3 : 114 points
Gail Duffield, Stan Lalley, Rod Howarth and Tiina Hurst
Runners-Up : Team 2 : 110 points
Sam McReynolds, Leonard O’Keeffe, Gary McAlpine and Iain Stewart

Other team scores were: Team 9 = 106pts, Team 6 = 105pts, Team 8 = 101pts, Team 5 = 98pts, Team 4 = 97pts, Team 1 = 96pts, Team 7 = 84pts.

There were plenty of opportunities for the Target Shooters to display their skills and these guys showed us how to do it!  Nearest the Pins, John Boyle, Hole 3; Gary McAlpine, Hole 5 (in 3); Iain Stewart, Hole 6; Colin Walters, Hole 13; Vinny Gibbons, Hole 16 and Rob Buckey, Hole 17 (In 3). And three Two’s were cleverly seen off, Gary McAlpine, Hole 3; Leonard O’keeffe, Hole 6 and Colin Walters, Hole 13. Thank you everyone who participated today.

Thank you as usual to our Amigos Handlers, Iain Stewart, Andrew Smithurst, Bob Lancaster, Brian Platt and myself. We are fully into our Summer Swing with Las Ramblas coming up next Thursday 13 Jul’23 (Team game and all in buggies) and Lo Romero on 27 Jul’23 (with Golden Bear sandwiched in between at Hacienda Riquelme on Friday 21 Jul’23).  It’s warm, hot even but with buggies, the right clothing and loads of fluids it is still worthwhile playing golf so do register, especially you Rookies who played today.
