Hola AMIGOS
It was good to see so many red shirts on the El Valle Terrace today and thank you all for making our new members and guests welcome. How fortunate were we with the weather today? And, due to the ‘lack’ of it, scoring was commendable in both categories and in a few cases quite exceptional.
Category 1 : Individual
Even Brian Platt and Mick Lynch’s 37 points merely got honourable mentions as did Klaus Hummel’s, 38 points who just missed out on the prizes and all podium placings were dictated by lower handicaps. Congratulations:-
Winner : Paul Taylor : 39 points
Runner-Up : Jill Sheridan : 39 points and 3rd Place : Annette Deeley : 38 points
Category 1 : Team
A great effort with 5 of the 6 Teams exceeding standard par of 108 points in this 2-3-4 Waltz
Winners : TEAM 6 : 122 points
Annette Deeley : Paul Taylor, Neville Custance and Sandy McDonald
Runners-Up : Team 4 : 118 points
Peter Mounser, Klaus Hummel, Jill Sheridan and Mick Lynch.
Other cat 1 team scores were: Team 2 = 112pts, Team 1 = 111pts, Team 3 = 109pts, Team 5 = 104pts.
Category 2 : Individual
As for Category 1; Gail Duffield’s 36 points and Lee Murfet and H Clarke’s 37 points merely get honourable mentions but very well played. Our 3rd Place player got onto the podium by virtue of a lower handicap but there’s no question of doubt about our top two. Outstanding performances guys and welcome to the new ‘Forties Club’ (check out the website under ‘Results’):-
Winner : Caz Clarke : 42 points
Runner-Up : Nigel Smith : 41 points and 3rd Place : Richard Deeley : 37 points
Category 2 : Team
Many congratulations go to our winning Team who gelled together for the best score of the day and not far behind were our Runners-Up:
Winners : Team 9 : 125 points
Jon Webster, Lee Murfet, Simon Hastings and Nigel Smith
Runners-Up : Team 11 : 120 points
Gail Duffield, Carol Brand, Vince Mifsud and H Clarke.
Other cat 2 team scores were: Team 12 = 117pts, Team 10 = 115pts, Team 8 = 104pts, Team 7 = 102pts.
Demonstrating their target shooting skills today, very well done on the Nearest The Pins: Hole 12, David Henshall-Brown; Hole 13 (In 3) and Hole 14 (In 2) Caz Clarke and Hole 15 Sandy McDonald and in the ‘Two’s Club’ were David Henshall-Brown and Rod Howarth on Hole 12 and Ron Weller and Graham Field.
Thank you everyone else for supporting Amigos and making our winners look so good! I have extra tee-times next week so a few places available for next Amigos inaugural visit to Alenda Golf which is just over an hour away but well worth putting yourselves out for a new golfing experience.
Thank you all once more and a nod to our Organisers, Harry Rice and Dave Hughes, the Shylocks!, Brian Platt on Keyboards, and myself and new Tee-Boy Carol Brand on the course.
Looking forward to seeing many of you at Alenda next week.
Graham
