07/12/23 EL VALLE
ARCHIVED RESULT FROM
Hola Amigos,
It was great to welcome ‘not seen for such a long time’ Amigos and new Amigos to our Golf family alongside you regulars and irregulars and hope that you all enjoyed the golf mix at El Valle today. It was a great day for golf and not such ‘great’ golf was played! In perfect weather conditions records ought to have been broken, but not so. Let’s see:-
Category 1 : Individual
A mediocre performance from our ‘professionals’ saw mentions for Reg Hole, Vilma Krinks, Mel Watson and Steve Fitzpatrick with 31 stableford points, well done. A clear winner emerged from the pool however, supported by a 2nd and 3rd who would have been rewarded with an honourable mention on other occasions, but many congratulations:-
Winner : Colin Hynd : 38 points
Runner-Up : Colin Walters : 33 points (lower handicap)
3rd Place : Gordon Hutchinson : 33 points
Category 2 : Individual
Similar to category one but showing slightly more higher returns. Harry Rice, Seamus Fagan and Henrik Tonnisen, 31 points and Roger Krinks, 33 points are mentioned with a round of applause but the podium places were more respectable, so, many congratulations:-
Winner : Jon Webster : 39 points
Runner-Up : Stan Lalley : 37 points
3rd Place : Mike Kitchen : 35 points
Category 3 : Individual
What mixed bag in this category with some trying very hard and deserving a mention, Bea Van Rijn, 31 points, Graham Field, 32 points and Bente Hornshoj Hansen and PaulBest, 33 points. Many congratulations to the players making the podium though and two had outstanding scores including the best of the day that gains entry into ‘The Forties Club’ was your winner:-
Winner : H Clarke : 41 points
Runner-Up : An Van Den Borre : 39 points
3rd Place : Lynne Hynd : 35 points
Team Game:
Testing you out with a very difficult format of two highest and two lowest stableford scores counting reality didn’t meet expectations with only two teams exceeding standard par of 72. We always like to test out every member of a Team for contributions at Amigos! But well done everyone for attempting the target. Well played:-
Winners : Team 1 : 76 points
Richard Farrell, Mike Kitchen, An Van Den Borre and Sylvia de Zwart (Ghost)
Runners-Up : Team 5 : 74 points
Reg Hole, Vilma Krinks, Simon Hastings and Roger Krinks (Ghost)
Third : Team 12 : 70 points
Seamus Fagan, Phil Brookes, Stan Lalley and Harry Rice.
Other team scores were: Team 11 = 68pts, Teams 10 & 7 = 67pts, Team 13 = 64pts, Team 6 = 63pts, Team 9 = 62pts, Teams 4 & 8 = 61pts, Team 2 = 60pts, Team 1 = 55pts.
You sharpshooters were on fire today with 7 golfers recording ‘Two’s’; Gerry Emmett, Hole 6; Graham Platts, Hole 12 and Mike Kitchen, Vilma Krinks, Stan Lalley, An Van Den Borre and Bea Van Rijn on Hole 15.
It is not always the result that counts and we thank you all for your support, patience and camaraderie making the day special.
Two more competitions before the end of the year are yet to be played. Thursday 21 Dec’23 at Villamartin where we have availability and our themed New Year Golf Party at Roda Golf on Thursday 28 Dec’23. This is showing Fully Booked at present but there always seems to be some casualties before a game, like today, so please let me know soonest if you want to be added to the reserve list, and, you never know?
You know our Organisers and Helpers so well now but lets thank Harry Rice, Iain Stewart, Dave Hughes, Bob Lancaster, Brian Platt, Mick Lynch and Ron Weller anyway.
To everyone leaving us for the Holidays I hope you have a safe journey, a great time with your family and friends and look forward to seeing you next year.
What a good day and thank you all.
Hast Luego
Graham
