09/01/25 DESERT SPRINGS

ARCHIVED RESULT FROM

Hola Amigos
It’s always a privilege to introduce new venues to Amigos who do not venture so far, and so pleased that you all enjoyed your day trip to Desert Springs. The venue was stunning, the course in excellent condition and the weather played its part to enhance the atmosphere and only a little over and hour and half away.  And, what exceptional value for money?  Thank you all for supporting our Competition here.  But how was the golf?   On the whole just OK!  But I am sure that the next time you play, knowing where to go and avoiding the lava stone buggies the golf will be so much better 😂
Individual Category 1
Highs and Lows here with winning scores that would have been well down the field in other Amigos Competitions but that’s how it goes sometimes.  Shane Bordier, 34 points you are honourably mentioned but just missed out on the prizes by virtue of a slightly higher handicap (11.2).  Well played everyone and especially the winning combo:-
Winner: Colin Walters : 36 points
Runner-Up : Lucy Hole :34 points (h/cap 8.3)
Individual Category 2
More highs than lows in this Category, so well played, and Ron Weller, James Pearson and Mike Kitchen, 34 points are mentioned and honourably so Nigel Horsfield, 36 points. Congratulations to the podium winners, but sharing the spoils by virtue of handicap status.
Winner :  Steve Fitzpatrick: 36 points (h/cap 17,7)
Runner-Up : Roger Wood : 36 points (h/cap 18.9)
Individual Category 3
Our Amigos found it tough in this league and some more so than others but there were some good’ish scores again you never quite know what the winning total will be. On this occasion 3 were in contention and could only separated by handicap values.  John Fox you are honourably mentioned with 34 points (h/cap 28.7). Congratulations
Winner : Tiina Hurst :  34 points (h/cap 22.2)
Runner-Up : Graham Field : 34 (h/cap 24.5)
Team Competition
It was a tough format, Stableford 2-4 Echo, alternating 2 and 4 scores counting and not knowing where to go, fast fairways and those gullies didn’t help high scoring but 2 Teams managed to beat standard par of 108 points, along with those hazards. Well played all Teams.
Winners : Team 8  : 111 points
Lucy Hole, Cathy Hoyne, Ragnar Hilmarsson and Steve Fitzpatrick
Runners-Up : Team 1 : 110 points
Peter Harding, Roger Wood, Rob Walsh and Liz Murty
3rd Places : Team 6 : 104 points
Andy Duffield, Colin Peek-Vout, Gary McAlpine and Tom Duncan
Other Team scores were: Team 7 = 104pts, Team 12 = 103pts, Team 11 = 102pts, Team 9 = 99pts, Team 2 = 98pts, Team 4 = 97pts, Team 10 = 95pts, Team 3 = 89pts, Team 5 = 88pts.
No time for notices this week, we take a short break and see everyone at Roda Golf on Thursday 23 Jan’25 for the announcement and presentation of the Race to La Finca Competition Winners. Let’s look forward to that one!
Thank you to all of our Organisers and Helpers, Iain Stewart, Dave Hughes (and John Fox), Brian Platt, Harry Rice, Bob Lancaster, Ron Weller and Sue Horsfield and especially you Amigos for your support and patience.
We hope that all of our injured Amigos who so wanted to join us, recover quickly too.
Hasta Luego
Graham🤓👍
