Hola AMIGOS
Another 'full house' for our Amigos golf at La Finca with 52 players taking on the tough challenge it presents.  It was sad to lose a few regulars through injury/illness but we wish Graham Field, Brian Stobbs & Eddie Murty a speedy recovery. Scoring proved to be difficult in the rather chilly conditions at the start and towards the end of the day. Whilst some courses suit the higher handicappers this one was clearly not one of those, with all the best scores coming from category 1.
Category 1 : Individual 
Bill Fleming (33pts), Colin Walters (34pts) and Malcolm Weaver (37pts) all receive honourable mentions but were pipped by our leading 2 in this category, congratulations go to:
Winner : Emmett Loftus : 39 points
Runner-Up: Jonathon Thompson : 38 pts
Category 2 : Individual 
Honourable mentions in this category go to Henrik Tonnisen (31pts) & John Burgess (32pts) but the prizes in this category go to:
Winner : Michael Lynch : 35 points
Runner-Up : Ron Weller : 32 points (on lower handicap)
Category 3 : Individual 
This proved to be a tough day for our category 3 players with a best score of 30 points. With 3 players achieving this score, the prizes were decided on lower handicap so unfortunately it is only an honourable mention for Andrew Smithurst and the prizes go to:
Winner : Harry Rice : 30 points
Runner-Up : Rudy Ceusters : 30 points
Team Competition :
Magic 7's is a tough team format and it takes good golf to hit or better the par target of 0 points. It looked for a long time as if this was going to beyond any team but towards the end of the day we had 2 excellent returns that beat par and one team managed to get +5 points on one hole to pull into a commanding lead:
Winners : Team 12 : +7 points
John Boyle, Michael Lynch, Gordon Hutchinson & Andrew Smithurst
Runner-Up : Team 10 : +1 point
Emmett Loftus, Ron Weller, Tony Foster & Alan Hinchcliffe
Third Place : Team 1 : -3 points
Brian Platt, Malcolm Weaver, An van den Borre & Christine Gibbons
All other team scores were: Teams 3, 5, 6, 9 & 13 = -6 pts, Team 2 = -7pts, Teams 6 & 11 = -10pts, Team 8 = -11pts, Team 4 = -17pts.

We had 4 NTP prizes today and all 4 were on the tricky par 3's and these were taken by: Hole 3 : Brian Platt, Hole 6 : Poul Friis Hansen, Hole13 : Hazel Price & Hole 16 : Harry Rice. None of our winners managed to secure a 2 this week nor did any other players so it proved to be a good day for the Charity collection. Thank you everyone for making it another great day and a particularly thank you to those who were able to stay for the presentation after a long day. 

We have made a few changes to venues for future competitions due to planned maintenance work potentially impacting the courses and we have moved the 23/3 game planned for Mar Menor to La Serena. Our planned game for La Serena on 6/7 has also been moved to La Finca. All details are in Hot News and our next Amigos game is at Saurines on 23/2.

Please remember to pay your deposits for the Anniversary Cup away day at Mojacar, by the end of the month and let us know if you want to book any extra nights at the hotel, we still have a few openings if you want to join us there.  Also, please don't forget to add "MOJACAR" & your name into the reference details when paying through the bank so we know who the payment is from and to what it relates.
