Hola Amigos,
Well, wasn’t that a good Society golf day? Great company, great golf course, great conditions and great value? From your reactions most of you seem to enjoy yourselves which is what we want to hear as organisers!
The golf today was pretty good on the whole with some very good performances. And on the whole Category 3 players returned the best individual and Team scores.
Category 1
Sam McReynolds and Dave Robinson are hereby honourable mentioned with 32 Stableford points but many congratulations go to our winner, a clear 5 shots ahead.
Individual Winner : Alastair Sporne : 37 points
The team winners score, however, was less impressive but still good enough to beat the other 2 teams in this category.
Team Winners : Team 4 : 101 points
Dave Maskens, Sam McReynolds, Brian Platt and Dave Robinson
Category 2
Two stand out players shared the highest total but Richard Deeley, on his first visit to Las Colinas, just missed out on the prizes with a higher handicap, but 36 points is commendable.
In fact, it transpired that had there not been a delay in entering the HRGS scores into the handicap management system (handicap adjustments from that game were too late to be included on the scorecard for Thursday's game), he would have had an extra shot and achieved a winning 37 points. Horrendously bad luck, but all competitions are played using the handicap on the card at the start of the game so no retrospective adjustments here I'm afraid.
Individual Winner : Lesley Mifsud : 36 points
In the team game, again Team 2 just missed out on the team prizes with a higher combined Handicap total.
Team Winners : Team 5 : 105 points
Lesley Mifsud, Caz Clarke, Sharon Seed and Carol Henshall-Brown
Category 3
Good scoring saw Stefan Agten, 33 points and Graham Field, 34 points gaining honourable mentions whilst the winning score was clearly the best of the day. Well done to this category winner.
Individual Winner : Liz McReynolds : 39 points
And the team Winners showed their prowess with the only team to score better than standard par of 108 points.
Team Winners : Team 7 : 114 points
Harry Rice, Tiina Hurst, John Mair and Liz McReynolds
4 Sharpshooters shared the Two’s pot this week, well done on hole 7; Sam McReynolds, Lesley Mifsud and Bob Lancaster but even better was the two on hole 5, well done Hans Nout.
As you know we always run an ‘Order of Merit’ Competition taking player’s best five rounds from a maximum of their first 8 rounds over a 4 month period and we are pleased to recognise our runner up Alastair Sporne, 176 points but what an achievement from our winner with an average of 36 points per round!
Winner : David Henshall-Brown : 178 points
This is an important competition so please do check out the virtual honours board on the website.
And well played everyone else who took part and you know who you are because you have named bag tags now!
Please do check out the website updates on forthcoming fixtures, including: Desert Springs for which I will be sending out details soon on 24 Jun’21; El Valle, 01 Jul’21; Camposol, 08 Jul’21 and, certainly a favourite and one to look forward to, Lo Romero on 22 Jul’21.
Thank you, as always, for making our new members welcome as well as our returning Amigos; and a big 'muchas gracias' to our matchday helpers and Organisers.
Hasta Luego,
Graham
