Hola AMIGOS

It was a bit warm today wasn’t it?  But for you intrepid golfers that didn’t seem to worry you too much and the early start surely helped?  Thank you all for supporting the competition especially those who have not played with us for quite some time.
But did the heat affect you?  Let’s see:-

Individual : Category 1
Two honourable mentions, Steve Fitzpatrick, 35 points and John Boyle, 37 points gives you an indication of the quality of golf in this division but two stand outs and a further entry into the ‘Forties Hall of Fame’ awaits the top place.  Many congratulations:-
Winner : Colin Walters : 40 points
Runner-Up : Darren Bakes : 38 points

Individual Category 2
Not too far behind category 1 players overall even though the winning totals were not as high. Steve Dickinson and Ruud Woudstra, with 32 points you are honoured, and well done to our podium golfers
Winner : Liz McReynolds : 36 points
Runners-Up :  Simon Hastings and Ros Hastings : 34 points (and who am I to come between these two!)

Team Competition
All very good combined efforts with only single shots separating the top 3 positions.  Standard par was 96 points for 2 scores counting on Par’s 4/5 and 4 counting on the 6 par three’s. Team 4, Rob Walsh, Darren Bakes, Stefan Agten and Steve Dickinson you are honourably mentioned with 104 points.
Winners : Team 5 : 105 points
John Boyle, Steve Fitzpatrick, Ruud Woudstra and Graham Field
Other team scores were: Team 1 = 103pts, Team 3 = 99pts, Team 2 = 96pts & team 6 = 85pts 

The Charity Box is grateful for your contributions after only one of two NTP’s were threatened, Iain Stewart (In 2) on Hole 16.  Nobody found the green on Hole 3 at La Torre!  What!? Some record!  And Colin Walters recorded a 2 on Hole 17 a very tricky hole.

Just to confirm that next week’s AMIGOS Competition, 17 Aug’23,  has been re-scheduled to Hacienda Riquelme.  Campoamor only informed me yesterday that they had brought forward their greens maintenance program including hollow tining to Monday of next week!  I have informed everyone else who was on the register too.  Making up the last two remaining Summer Swing fixtures are Altaona Village on Thursday 24 Aug’23 and Golf Altorreal on Thursday 31 Aug’23. I do have plenty of places for these.
And please be informed that I will be announcing all of the AMIGOS Competitions for 2024 at Golf Altorreal including our popular Anniversary Cup ‘Away Day’!
