Hola AMIGOS
It was nice to welcome back a few old friends at Altaona with Gordon Dow, Grahame Bradbury, James Silvestro, Mark Skett, Klaus Hummel & Lee Hobson all making the start sheet after some time away. It was also good to have Mark & Shazza Seed, Hanne Johnslov, Roger Wood and David Henshall Brown join us after the game - clearly the Amigos are the people to be seen with 😁.
We took this opportunity to present Simon Hastings with his trophy for winning the Jan-Apr 2023 Order of Merit Division 2 competition with his 145 point total - Many congratulations Simon.
The golf today, however, proved to be a challenge for just about everyone with no-one beating par for the course.
Category 1 : Individual
Honourable mentions go to: Melody Watson 31pts, Steve Watts & Terry Wallington 32pts and Iain Stewart 34pts but, once again, both our prize winners could only be split on handicap. Many congratulations:-
Winner : Colin Walters : 34 points
Runner-Up : Klaus Hummel : 34 points
Category 2 : Individual
Honourable mentions in this category were very limited and go to Brian Stobbs 31pts & Ken Sewell 33pts. Many congratulations:-.
Winner : Bob Lancaster : 36 points
Runner-Up : Sue Lansdell : 34 points
Team Categories
This weeks team competition was a tough one with 6 holes recording the 2 worst scores and the overall scores reflected that difficulty. Chasing a tough 'Par Score' of 72pts, no-one managed to achieve that target but many congratulations to our prize winners:-
Category 1 : Team
Winners : Team 2 : 68 points
Sue Lansdell, James Silvestro, Paul Taylor & Emmett Loftus
Second : Team 7 : 64 points
Colin Walters, Melody Watson, John Howarth & Lynn Lalley.
Other team scores in this category were: Team 6 = 62pts, Team 3 = 61pts, Team 4 = 60pts & Team 10 = 54pts
Category 2 : Team
Winners : Team 9 : 67 points
Ruud Woudstra, Gary Conway, Jill Howarth & Klaus Hummel
Second : Team 8 : 65 points
Stan Lalley, Kevin Sutton, Carolus Brand & Brian Stobbs
Other team scores in this category were: Team 11 = 64pts, Team 12 = 61pts, Team 1 = 57pts & Team 5 = 52pts.
With 6 'special' holes our NTP winners were: James Silvestro (Hole 3), Carol Henshall Brown (Hole 8), Bob Lancaster (Hole 9), Terry Wallington (Hole 11), Klaus Hummel (Hole 17) and Dave Maskens (Hole 18). Despite the generally poor scoring, 2's seemed to be easy to come by with awards going to : Stephen Cherry, Brian Dagnall, Emmett Loftus & James Silvestro (Hole 3), Sue Lansdell & Paul Taylor (Hole 8) and Terry Wallington (Hole 11). A tough day for the charity pot but well done everyone.
With no fixture next week due to the Golden Bear game on Friday, our next fixture is our Anniversary Cup event at Mojacar which should be a cracker 👍. Please do not forget to take those 'selfies' wearing your Amigos shirt at golf courses around the world (make sure the course sign is in the shot) and send them in to us via the link on the website - prizes to be won at the end of the year.
Many thanks again to our Amigos Organisers & helpers: Harry Rice, Dave 'the cash' Hughes, Bob Lancaster, Iain 'keyboards' Stewart, Terry 'the tee' Wallington and our 'remote worker' Graham Field; all your efforts are very much appreciated.
Hasta luego
Brian
