Hola AMIGOS
It was such a pleasure to meet a few rookie Amigos today, reacquaint with others not seen for such a long time alongside you regulars and irregulars and to be able to introduce Vistabella Golf Course to many of you for the first time. It is always such a pleasure to visit there. Golf courses in Alicante Province always seem to have such a different atmosphere. Did you make the most of the conditions? You certainly did and when you were good you were outstanding!
Category 1 : Individual and Team
Real competition in this category where you expert golfers challenged yourselves against your fellow top golfers. Colin Aves and Tam Bathe came out of the tussle with a mention with 33 points but Dan Stallard and Annette Deeley honourably so with 37 points, well done. Congratulations to the top two who were outstanding as was the Top Team helped by those Individual winner’s valuable input:-

Runner-Up : Reg Hole : 38 points
Winning Team : 147 points

Category 2 : Individual and Team
Wow, what awesome scoring and returns from both the best Individuals and Team in this Category. Such was the competition that Emmett Loftus and Mick Lynch’s 38 points could not get onto the podium! Many congratulations though and also to Steve Fitzpatrick, Gordon Hutchinson and Sandy McDonald, 37 points and Stuart Ellis, 36 points. Such was the high scores returned that inevitably the Team score was unbelievable:-

Runner-Up : Ron Weller : 42 points
Winning Team : 160 points

Category 3 : Individual and Team
Amazing returns were recorded from this Category to keep the day’s field well above par and honourably mentioned are Cheryl White, 36 points and Harry Rice, 38 points, well done. And the best plaudits were saved for the top two’s remarkable efforts and this division’s Team effort was best of the day a clear 30 points above par for the format:-

Team : 162 points

Displaying their finest sharpshooting credentials were Nearest the Pins winners, Reg Hole, Hole 10 (In 3); Dan Stallard, Hole 12 (in 2); and Iain Stewart on Hole 11 and Hole 13 (In 2) and Annette Deeley (Hole 2); Tam Bathe and Iain Stewart (Hole 7); Iain Stewart, (Hole 11) and Steve Fitzpatrick (Hole 15) ‘two’d out! Brilliant!
Further congratulations are extended to Iain Stewart, Ron Weller and Paul Best with the first entries into the Amigos Forties Club for 2024. Quite a memorable day for you Iain Stewart many congratulations from all!
The next three Amigos games are well worthy of honourable mentions! Saurines, Thursday 25 Jan’24, Camposol, Thursday 01 Feb’24 and Villamartin on Thursday 08 Feb’24. There is availability at this time so please do support the games and register or send us an email. Thank you for your patience whilst explaining the Spanish Golf Federation’s latest announcement that everyone must be licenced to play golf in Spain and from 01 Jan’24. Please complete the forms and take to your pro-shops, we do not want any Amigo to be barred from playing for not being licenced! I have attached the form and notes via attachments for those who didn’t pick them up.

Thank you to the Amigos Organisers and Helpers, it was a hectic week behind the scenes but hopefully this did not show too much on course!
