12/10/23 HACIENDA DEL ALAMO

ARCHIVED RESULT FROM

Hola AMIGOS
With all of the conjecture regarding the condition of the course it didn’t play that badly.  Yes there was very little grass on the fairways but overall the tees and greens were ok?  However, it was all that was available following the non-opening of Mar Menor’s back nine holes and the subsequent fall out. it was great to see so many of you Amigos returning and fitting in as if you hadn’t been away at all.

Did you manage to do the business on this course though? The simple answer is no and certainly not after the glories of last week at El Plantio.

Category 1
These players found the going tough and only 50% managed to get 30 points or more.  Mentions can only be highlighted for achieving 32 points and you were, Poul Friis Hansen, Colin Hynd, Steve Jones, Sus Tonnisen and Andy Reeves. Today’s winner, however, returned the best score of the day and was left wondering what happened to the chasing pack!  Many congratulations.
Winner : Mick Lynch : 38 Points
Runner-Up : Brian Dagnall : 36 Points
3rd Place : Colin Walters : 34 Points

Category 2
Bob Lancaster, 31 points and Kevin Sutton and Vincent Brison, 32 points can only be mentioned too whilst the podium places were more encouraging and shared.  Well done!
Winner : Richard Deeley : 36 Points (handicap 22.4)
Runner-Up : Ana de Belgica : 36 Points (handicap 23.3)
3rd Place : Ken Sewell : 36 Points (handicap 28.7)

Team Competition
It was a difficult format with everyone having to contribute but two Teams did well to exceed par and comfortably ahead of the rest of the Teams.
Winners : Team 5 : 113 Points
Annette Deeley, Mick Lynch, Colin Hynd and Lynne Hynd
Runners-Up : Team 2 : 112 Points
Iain Stewart, Andy Reeves, Sus Tonnisen and Ana de Belgica
Runners-Up : Team 5.
Other team scores were: Team 10 = 108pts, Teams 7 & 11 = 102pts, Team 6 = 101pts, Teams 9 & 4 = 98pts, Team 8 = 97pts, Team 3 = 95pts & Team 1 = 92pts.

The target shooters could get close but not close enough for conversion to a ‘Two’!  But congratulations Terry Wallington, Hole 5 and Annette Deeley on Holes 8 and 12.
Thank you everyone who joined us at Hacienda del Alamo and made the day so enjoyable.

Special mentions, naturally, for the Organisers and Helpers, sorting out a particularly messy start sheet, Iain Stewart, Brian Platt, Bob Lancaster, Mick Lynch and Terry Wallington.
Next up is New Sierra with its playable back 9 holes on 26 Oct’23 and very green in colour on all accounts compared to today’s brown!   Alenda, 02 Nov’23 and Golf Altorreal on 09 Nov’23.  They are pretty full but do email me if you want to be considered, you never know.
Muchas Gracias
Graham
