17/08/23 HACIENDA RIQUELME
ARCHIVED RESULT FROM
Hola AMIGOS
Well, what a really tough day at the office today wasn’t it? I’ve never known Hacienda Riquelme play that hard and unforgiving. Out of 26 golfers only 6 of you returned scores above 30! Including some of you quality Jugadores! What a shame we had to unavoidably re-schedule from Campoamor which meant so many more of you GNK members had an unmemorable day!
I won’t dwell on the numbers but briefly:-
Individual : Category 1
Mentioned are Mel Watson and Ron Weller, 31 points but your category winner, your irrepressible music man:-
Winner : John Boyle : 35 points
Runner-Up : Sam McReynolds : 32 points
Individual: Category 2
Mentioned in passing is Simon Hastings, 31 points and a prize went to an Amigo with one point more! But many congratulations go to our winner with a best of the day score, playing his first game with us and an infrequent golfer as well:-
Winner : Brian Headley : 38 points
Runner-Up : Steve Dickinson : 32 points
Team Competition
Had I known the course conditions I wouldn’t have opted for a Double Jeopardy Waltz format. Standard par of 108 points was far too remote a target today.
Winners : Winners : Team 1 : 97 points
Hans Nout, Rob Walsh, Brian Headley and Steve Dickinson
Runners-Up : Team 6 : 96 points
John Boyle, Ruud Woudstra, Rinus de Zwart and Steve Fitzpatrick (Ghost)
Other team scores were: Team 2 = 95pts, Team 7 = 92pts, Team 5 = 91pts, Team 4 = 86pts, Team 3 = 69pts.
The stand alone sharpshooter and highlight of the day was Mel Watson’s ‘Two’ on Hole 7 and no doubt there were many near misses!
There are two more competitions left on our Amigos Summer Swing, Thursday 24 Aug’23 sees us visit Altaona Village and 31 Aug’23 Golf Altorreal where sizeable numbers return. There is still availability at both though so please come and join us if you have not registered already. At Golf Altorreal I will also reveal the Amigos Competition list which will be available for booking from 01 Sep’23 to include all fixtures from 01 Jan’24 to 31 Dec’24 and there will be ongoing announcements for the Amigos Ryder Cup.
Thank you to all of you who supported us today and especially you rookies; please come and join us again.
Thank you to our Organisers, Iain Stewart, Bob Lancaster, and Brian Platt and wasn’t it good to see Dave Hughes return to what he does best, take your money! He’ll be back playing soon.
Hasta luego
Graham
