21/04/22 EL PLANTIO
ARCHIVED RESULT FROM
Hola AMIGOS
Another new course for many of us and a great day of weather to play it in, I suspect we will return to El Plantio in 2023 as t certainly seemed to prove popular. Welcome to Cormac Sheehy, Steve & Benny O’Dea, Deborah Harding and Darren Egdell who were all new (or long lost) Amigos joining us at El Plantio. Overall, I think the course got the better of us today with only one player beating par, more about that below in the results summary:
Category 1
Honourable mentions go to Steve Jones (31pts) and Klaus Hummel (32pts), but this category held our hero of the day with Andy Wasik shooting a magnificent 39 pts to win overall:-
Winner : Andy Wasik : 39 points
Runner-Up : Cormac Sheehy : 33 points (lower handicap)
3rd Place : Annette Deeley : 33 points
Category 2
An honourable mention goes to Stan Lalley (31pts), just pipped for 3rd place by a lower handicap player:-
Winner : Richard Deeley : 33 points
Runner-Up : An van den Boore : 32 points
Third Place : John Burgess : 31 points
Category 3
Ken Sewell gets an honourable mention for his solid 30 point tally in Cat 3:-
Winner : Rob Henshaw : 34 points
Runner-Up : Harry Rice : 33 points
Third Place : Sue Thompson : 32 points
Team Competition
The format used for the team competition was a nice simple one with “best 3 scores, best 2 scores, best 3 scores, best 2 scores...” but even that proved to be a challenge for some 😉. The format par is 90 points, but we would expect to need a bit better than that to win, and so it proved with 4 teams beating that par mark.
Winners : Team 8 : 100 points
Alastair Sporne, Phil Brookes, Richard Deeley & Sue Thompson
Runners-Up : Team 1 : 96 points
Brian Platt, Klaus Hummel, An van den Boore & Rob Henshaw
Other team scores were: Team 9 = 94pts, Team 3 = 93pts, Team 5 = 86pts, Team 4 = 82pts, Teams 7 & 10 = 81pts, Teams 2 & 6 = 79pts.
Congratulations to today’s sharpshooters; Nearest the Pin: Hole 3 in 2 = Andy Wasik, Hole 9 = Bob Lancaster & Hole 18 = Andy Wasik (again 🙄).
Only one of the par 3 NTPs was holed-out for a 2, however 3 others managed to sink longer putts and congratulations go to: Brian Platt (hole 9), Dot Jones (hole 14), Richard Deeley & Andy Wasik (hole 18).
I hope everyone enjoyed their day and well done to you all for playing a part and supporting Amigos. You will find all of the results on the website shortly.
The next fixture is at La Torre on 28 Apr’22 so hopefully we will see many of you there.
Don’t forget about our Amigos Anniversary trip to La Sella on 26/27 May’22, we are sending our booking deposit confirmation payments into Marriott hotel this week so please, if you have not already done so, can you start paying your final payments.
Thank you as always to Bob, John M & Andrew for their help organising the day and Rob Henshaw for his help in validating the team scores. Graham Field should be back with us for the La Torre game next week and we hope to see many of you there for that one.
Gracias
Brian
