Hola AMIGOS
What a very special day at El Valle today and thank you all for making it so! It was so good to see returnees, regulars, irregulars and a sprinkling of rookies mixing so well to make it a fun day. Whilst we all know the efforts of one particular golfer how did the rest of you perform?
Category 1 : Individual
As it should be, Category 1 Golfers played exceptionally well recording some amazing scores. What on another occasion could be a winning total these Amigos could only manage honourable mentions in today’s Company: Annick D’Anvers and Terry Wallington, 36 points; Bruce Charman, 37 points and Jill Sheridan, Paul Taylor and Graham Hallifax, 38 points. But the plaudits all go to the podium golfers for these players:-
Winner : John Boyle : 39 points (lower handicap)
Runner-Up : Malcolm Weaver : 39 points
3rd Place : Jill Sheridan : 38 points (lower handicap)
Category 1 : Team
Smashing standard par of 108 points on a difficult three stableford scores counting format this Team played very well:-
Winners : Team 10 : 122 points
Rob Buckey, Paul Taylor, David Lewis and Gordon Hutchinson
Other Cat 1 team scores were: Team 6 = 121pts, Team 4 = 117pts, Team 14 = 115pts & Team 1 = 104pts.
Category 2 : Individual
Only a couple of shots adrift of Category 1 players, a very creditable performance and yet again generally winning scorers could only sit and watch the podium trio. Congratulations Colin Callacher and Hans Beque, 35 points; Steve Cherry and Gail Duffield, 36 points and Gordon Hutchinson 37 points as well as the best 3:-
Winners : Iain Stewart : 39 points
Runner-Up : Brian Dagnall : 37 points (lower handicap)
3rd Place : Steve Patrick : 37 (Captain America’s on form!)
Category 2 : Team
The winning Team seem to have a plan recording the highest score on the day, out of 15 four-balls. Very well played:-
Winners : Team 2 : 123 points
Mel Watson, Iain Stewart, Gail Duffield and Brian Dagnall
Other Cat 2 team scores were: Team 7 = 117pts, Team 5 = 116pts, Team 12 = 108pts & Team 11 = 103pts.
Category 3 : Individual
Still worthy of honourably mentioning, albeit one or two shots shy of Category 2 players, this category was full of surprises. Richard Deeley and the Hastings, Ros and Simon, with 35 points. But there is no doubting the best of the day score and joining the AMIGOS FORTY CLUB well played:-
Winner : H Clarke : 41 points
Runner-Up : Ken Sewell : 37 points
3rd Place : Graham Field : 36 points
Category 3 : Team
Not too far behind in a competitive category this Team including the highest individual scorer of the day played very well together, congratulations:-
Winners : Team 15 : 118 points
Bob Lancaster, Ruud Woudstra, Nigel Smith and H Clarke
Other Cat 3 team scores were: Team 9 = 117pts, Team 13 = 113pts, Team 3 = 106pts & Team 8 = 104pts.
You sharpshooters were in unbelievable form today with some great shots, Nearest the Pins, Hole 9, Darren Bakes, Hole 10 (In 2), David Brown; Hole 11 (In 2), Gail Duffield; Hole 13 (In 3), Andy Duffield and now here we go, Gordon Hutchinson with an ACE on the Par 3 Hole 12 (With a driver?!), how amazing was that, congratulations from everyone on that Bar Terrace! And you Amigos just love El Valle’s Par 3’s scoring 2’s, Gail Duffield, Hole 6; John Boyle on Holes 9 and 15 and Terry Wallington, Colin Gallacher, Rob Buckey and Andy Reeves (but Hole 15 was from a blue tee-box, just saying!).
Let’s all turn our attention to the Amigos Ryder Cup and look forward to next week at Las Colinas.
And, looking ahead to October’s fixtures, we play El Plantio, 05 Oct’23, Hacienda del Alamo (re-scheduled from Mar Menor), 12 Oct’23 and New Sierra with 18 Holes now open on 26 Oct’23. Please register or let us know by email if you would like to play as there are one or two places remaining.
And again thank you to all of our Organisers and Helpers who contributed so much to create the best atmosphere possible for your golf.
Hasta pronto
Graham
