21/12/23 VILLAMARTIN

ARCHIVED RESULT FROM

Hola AMIGOS
The first shift has returned home and it’s really good to have the second Christmas shift fill the start sheet!  Thank you guys for joining our Amigos game at Villamartin today and especially those who have not graced our fairways for such a long time.
How was it out there?  Let’s see.

Category 1 : Individual
In perfect conditions, it seemed that you were a tad ‘green shy’ with not too many high scores returned.  Mentioned are Dave Robinson, Jim Douglas and Sam McReynolds with 32 stableford points and James Silvestro, 33, well played. The podium places were roundabout par but on a day like today these scores were sufficient to win the prizes, congratulations:-
Winner : Paul Taylor : 36 points
Runner-Up : David Ford : 35 points

Category 2 ; Individual
Pretty much the same as Category 1 where Gordon Hutchinson is honourably mentioned with 34 points and also Liz McReynolds and Dave Hughes returned scores of 32.  Well done all.  The one/two were Amigos Organisers and they returned very respectable scores indeed, congratulations:-
Winner : Harry Rice : 38 points
Runner-Up : Bob Lancaster : 37 points

Team Competition
Despite the unusually packaged Team Stableford 50 Countdown format with 3 scores counting, 18 x 6 = 108 – 50 = 58 was standard par.  Your combined efforts did produce returns which almost met the target, and most clearly surpassing it with aplomb.  Well done all and especially our three winning Teams who took the prizes:-
Winners : Team 1 : 73 points
Mike Dagnall, Paul Taylor, Jon Webster and Bob Lancaster (Ghost)
Runners-Up : Team 8 : 67 points
James Silvestro, Sam McReynolds, Bea Van Rijn and Liz McReynolds
3rd Place : Team 10 : 64 points
Kirk Green, Emmet Loftus, Gordon Hutchinson and Dave Hughes
Other team scores were: Team 9 = 61pts, team 3 = 56pts, Team 5 = 54pts, Team 4 = 53pts, Team 2 = 52pts, Team 7 = 51pts, Team 6 = 46pts.

The two Nearest the Pin shots were amazing, well done Kirk Green (Hole 17) and Paul Taylor (Hole 18, in 2).  On target for a ‘Two’s’ payout were Tam Bathe, Jim Douglas and Dave Robinson on Hole 9, Reg Hole on Hole 13 and Tam Bathe again on Hole 17.  Good shooting guys.

It was good to be able to hand out a whole bunch of prizes to Graham Booth and James Silvestro held over for such a long time from past competitions!
Thank you everyone else who took part and we hope you enjoyed your day.

Next week, of course, is the ‘Big One’, Amigos themed End of Year Golf Party to be held at Roda Golf.  An interim email has been issued and a start sheet will be forwarded on Sunday.  We hope the ‘full house’ of players is anticipating a great celebration to our end of year golf.
And, we have to think about next year’s golf where El Valle beckons on Thursday 04 Jan’24 and Vistabella on Friday 12 Jan’24.  Please forward an email to confirm your interest should the register show fully booked, circumstances always seem to conspire to force us to make last minute changes.
Thank you to all of our Organisers and Helpers, you always do a great job, and we hope that Iain Stewart recovers from illness which overtook him early this morning.
And, to all of you Amigos leaving us for a while we hope you have a great Holiday with your families and friends.
Hast luego
Graham
