22/06/23 LA MARQUESA

ARCHIVED RESULT FROM

Hola AMIGOS
Love it or hate it (and most of you seemed to love it) La Marquesa proved to be quite a challenge for you yesterday.  Holes 1-9 were definitely the most challenging with low scores recorded but scoring opportunities presented themselves on Holes 10-18.  Or so the scorecards revealed.
Category 1 : Individual
Forget the ‘Forties Club’ the winning scores would have only received an honourable mention at other times.  Sam McReynolds, we’ll give you a mention for your 32 points and well done Iain Stewart with 34. The winning duo both finished with the same number of points and separated only by lower handicap:-
Winner : Robert Buckey : 35 points (H/C 8.6)
Runner-Up : Stewart Dennerley : 35 points (H/C 16.3)

Category 2 : Individual
And, exactly the same story as for Category 1.  A passing mention for Paul Best, 32 points and well done Graham Whant, 34 points. Sharing the winning total and only separated by handicaps again were:-
Winner : Gordon Hutchinson : 35 points (H/C 20.6)
Runner-Up : Jon Webster : 35 points (H/C 22.5)

Team Competition
Team scoring was more impressive and you all seemed to knit together to give the standard par of 108 points (3 stableford scores counting) a closer shave and one Team just exceeded it.  Congratulations:-
Winners : Team 6 : 109 points
Paul Baxendale, Stewart Dennerley, Graham Whant and Liz McReynolds
Runners-Up : Team 5 : 105 points
John Boyle, Gordon Hutchinson, Anthony Gray and Paul Best.
Other Team scores were: Team 1 = 104pts, Team 7 = 103pts, Team 3 = 101pts, Teams 2 & 4 = 100pts.
The sharpshooting elite on this course were Graham Whant, Nearest the pin on Hole 16 and ‘Two’s’ for Gordon Hutchinson on Hole’s 8 and 16.  Impressive on the Sawgrass Island Hole 16 but how many balls ended up wet?!

I hope that you all enjoyed your game no matter what the outcome was and thank you for your support. You are all aware of what’s coming up on the ‘Amigo’s Summer Swing’ (If not again check out this website) so let’s hope for a great Low Season turnout next week at Vistabella!
Thank you Ron Weller and Mark Harrison for helping out on the starter tees, Iain Stewart who managed to put the start sheet out despite many many changes, Brian and Harry who always delights in taking your money!.  Please do try and manage to bank transfer your next fees.
And what an impressive brand new Clubhouse and Pro-Shop La Marquesa has to offer, a real treat and always good to see new investments in golf facilities.
Hasta luego
Graham
