22/07/21 LO ROMERO

ARCHIVED RESULT FROM

Hola Amigos
Thank you to everyone who supported our Amigo’s visit to Lo Romero today. It is always one of our popular venues and today certainly didn’t disappoint with the course in immaculate condition and the usual friendly reception from the staff there. We don’t play the ‘Bonus Holes’ format very much but it seemed to be very well received today with some astonishing scoring being achieved? Your results were as follows:
Individual Category 1:
Stephen Day (35 pts), Graham Booth (36 pts) and both Brian Platt and Alastair Sporne (37 pts) all received honourable mentions but were not quite good enough to catch our prize winners:
Winner : Bob Lancaster : 39 points,
Runner-Up : Gordon Hutchinson : 38 points

Individual Category 2
Well played Rich Worsley, Steve Egan and Stefan Agten (34 pts), Claire Egan (35 pts) and Dave Robinson (36 pts) but your category 2 prize winners, with one astonishing score, are:
Winner : Bert Ottoy : 46 points (had Bert not been restricted in the comp to a max 36 shots he would have scored 48 points and earns himself a 6 shot handicap trim and a new handicap of 26.2)
Runner-Up : Andrew Smithurst : 38 points

Team Competition
To accommodate the large field we decided to split the team comp into 2 comps containing 5 teams in each and it was interesting to see that in each category there was 1 stand-out team score:-
Category 1 Winner : Team 3 : 166 points
Alastair Sporne, Petrus Henk Alink, Gordon Hutchinson and Carolus Brand.
Other team scores were: Teams 1 & 2 = 146 pts, Team 5 = 145 pts, Team 4 = 114 pts.

Category 2 Winner : Team 9 : 181 points
Dave Robinson, Rich Worsley, Andrew Smithurst and Bert Ottoy.
Other team scores were: Team 10 = 137 pts, Team 6 = 136 pts, Team 8 = 133 pts, Team 7 = 127 pts.

The ‘NTP in 2’ for Category 1 on the 18th island green proved a challenge with only 2 players finding the green in 2, congratulations go to Stephen Day on being closest and taking the prize. Category 2 had the same hole but their challenge was ‘nearest the pin in 3’, and of the 6 players that successfully found the green, Liz McReynolds was closest and took the prize.

There are plenty of places available at El Valle, 29 Jul’21 and New Sierra on 05 Aug’21 so please try to join us there if you can. Thank you again to everyone who took part and all those who helped out today, I return to UK tomorrow and leave you in Graham’s capable hands for next  week.
Gracias
Brian
