Hola AMIGOS
Today at Roda Golf was quite special. The weather was amazing for a January, the golf course in great condition and playing very well with super fast greens, the camaraderie exceptional on a great outdoor terrace, all in all a regular Amigos outing no less! 😂 However, putting on one side today’s golf it was also very special for one of our Amigos. Many congratulations from all Amigos and particularly from those assembled DAVE HUGHES our RACE TO LA FINCA, 2024, CHAMPION!  
It’s been a long road, with Monthly Winners and Tier Winners along the way but Dave not only survived but played consistently over a twelve month period, a deserved Winner.
Our regular competition threw up a couple of highlights too, let’s see what they were:-
Individual : Category 1
A steady performance by our Amigos in this category but nothing exceptional, apart from the Winner though. Honourable mentions are handed out to Alan Kilminster, 33 Stableford points, Graham Bradbury, 35 points and Garry Elderbrand, 36 points and just missing out on a slightly higher handicap (11.7). But well played everyone and more especially the one/two combo.
Winner : Mark Cocker : 39 points
Runner-Up : James Silvestro : 36 points (H/cap 9.9)
Individual : Category 2
Fairing slightly under par overall and maybe not familiar with the part medal format and having the right snooker cue for the greens! 😂 Mentioned though, are Steve Fitzpatrick and Iain Stewart, 32 points. Well done everyone and making it to the podium for their prizes were:-
Winner : Mark Digby : 36 points
Runner-Up : Gail Duffield : 34 points
Individual : Category 3
A struggle for many in this Category and only mentions for Chris Dunne, 32 points and Andrew Smithurst, 33 points but just missing out on  a prize by virtue of a higher handicap (34.2).  There is always the exception and your winner played amazing golf and by far the very best of the day across all Categories. A great performance and the first entrant into the 2025  Amigos Forties Club, many congratulations:-
Winner : Diane Nicholls : 40 points!
Runner-Up : Tiina Hurst : 33 points (h/cap 21.8)
Team Competition 
Chasing a score below standard par of 18 for this Medalford Format more than half the field achieved the target, so well played. Whilst individual scoring wasn’t brilliant as a Team you gelled!
Winners : Team 12 :  9 Points : (On lower combined handicaps)
Alan Kilminster, Ron Weller, Anthony Gray and Nigel Smith
Runners-Up : Team 9 Points
James Silvestro, Josie Aves, Tiina Hurst and Steve Nicholls
3rd Places : Team 13 : 12 Points
David Doig, Gary Joseph, Vince Mifsud and Diane Nicholls.

Other team scores were: Team 1 = 13pts, Teams 4 & 9 = 14pts, Team 3 = 15pts, Teams 2, 5 & 8 = 20pts, Teams 6 & 11 = 23pts, Team 15 = 28pts, Team 7 = 3-pts, Team 14 = 31pts.
On form with great plays attacking the Flags were, David Doig, Hole 7; Annette Deeley, Hole 12 (in 2); Lindy Easson, Hole 13 and Colin Aves, Hole 18 (in 3).  Taking on the island green, Hole 7, very successfully were these target shooters, Graham Bradbury, Mark Cocker, Colin Walters and David Doig. Well played all you Amigos but an exceptional 2 shots from Alan Kilminster surpassed these Amigos by virtue of an Eagle 2 on the Par 4, 9th Hole. Simply brilliant Alan.

Just a reminder that next week’s Competition at Vistabella is on  Wednesday 29 Jan’25, due to Vistabella’s Member Society regular Competition.
Many upcoming Competitions are very busy and some fully booked so if you do want an opportunity of playing and have not registered just email us to be put on a reserve list. You never know, nearer the time there may well be withdrawals with spaces to fill from the reserve list (5 from today’s game at Roda Golf)!
