26/10/23 NEW SIERRA

ARCHIVED RESULT FROM

Hola AMIGOS
That was your introduction to the new back nine holes at New Sierra!  What did you think? A confident yes in the semi darkness of the presentation suggested you did!  A well constructed layout with interesting and challenging holes and quality greens for a course of such a young age but how long was it?  Quite some walk and not the easy pace of visits to New Sierra. More buggies next time, I think.
Did you come to terms with it though?  Yes, you certainly did returning some outstanding scores!

Category 1 : Individual
38 points could only get you an honourable mention in this exclusive club, many congratulations to John Boyle and Terry Wallington and also Sam McReynolds, 36 points and Annette Deeley, 35 points. But the two podium places go with our applause, and entering the Amigos ‘Forties Club’ are:-
Winner : Colin Aves : 42 points
Runner-Up : Colin Walters : 41 points

Category 2 : Individual
Very well represented category and again some very decent scores delivering three ‘Forties Club’ entrants.  And, even Mike Kitchen with 40 points didn’t make the top two, but many congratulations you are hereby very honourably mentioned along with Sus Tonnisen, 38 points and Richard Deeley and Gordon Hutchinson with 36.  No doubting our winners though, well played:-
Winner : Steve Fitzpatrick : 42 points
Runner-Up : Simon Hastings : 41 points

Category 3 : Individual
Once more some very respectable honourable mentions, Vincent Brison, 38 points, Lynne Hynd, 36 points and Dave Hughes on his return to golf 35 points. The two podium places saw yet another candidate for the ‘Forties Club’.  Well done these two guys:-
Winner : Rudy Ceusters : 41 points
Runner-Up : Ken Sewell : 39 points

Team Competition
A tricky format but scores did come back roundabout par. Many congratulations to the top three:-
Winners : Team 12 : 112 points (On combined lower handicap)
Jack Cropper, Garry Wilkinson, Ken Sewell and Vincent Brison
Runners-Up : Team 6 : 112 points
Colin Walters, Josie Aves, Richard Deeley and Lynne Hynd
3rd Place : Team 1  : 109 points
Brian Platt, Colin Hynd, Mike Portlock and Paul Best

Other team scores were: Team 10 = 109pts, Teams 7 & 4 = 107pts, Team 2 = 104pts, Team 13 = 103pts, Teams 3, 5 & 14 = 102pts, Team 11 = 98pts, Team 8 = 95pts & Team 9 = 86pts.

The target shooters were aplenty this week, good shots closing in on the Nearest the Pins were: Mike Kitchen, Hole 3; Henrik Tonnisen, Hole 6; Rudy Ceusters (In 2), Hole 9; David Ford, Hole 13; Carol Brand (Happy birthday), Hole 17 and John Boyle, Hole 18 (In 4, the 575 yard Par 5). And the ‘Two’s’, amazing, Jack Cropper, Holes 3 and 13, Steve Fitzpatrick and David Ford also on Hole 13 and Dot Jones on Hole 17.
