Hola AMIGOS
What another great occasion at Las Colinas today, you just love it there don’t you? And did the twin Competition format work for you? I hope so, as it was the only way we could accommodate all those of you who wanted to play and to reduce the waiting around time for presentation. However, your reduced time proved a very long day for the Organisers and Helpers so let’s mention those involved first. Thank you Iain Stewart, Bob Lancaster, Ron Weller, Liz McReynolds, Brian Platt, Dave Hughes, Harry Rice and Hazel Price for presenting the prizes.
Now, the Golf Business:-
Individual Category 1 Competition
Some pretty good scoring in this division and honourable mentions can be handed out to Lucy Hole, 35 Stableford points, Richard Farrell and John Gregory, 36 points and a score that what would normally be in the prizes, Bruce Charman, 38 points. Well played everyone and especially those mounting the podium with the winner joining the exclusive Amigos Forties Club:-
Winner : Kevin Scott : 40 points
Runner-Up : Garry Elderbrand : 39 points (handicap 11.4)
3rd Place : Patrick Seeber : 39 points (handicap 13.6)
Team Competition
Anticipating that standard par of 72 for this Pairs Better-Ball format would be well beaten proved to be correct with every Team surpassing the target or getting close. Honourable mentions are in order for Team 7 just missing out by a one point by virtue of a higher combined handicap total for the Runner-Up prizes, Shane Bordier, Bruce Edwards, Jerry Keohane and Patrick Seeber. Very well played all Pairs but the prizes for the first and second Teams were awarded as follows:-
Winners : Team 6 : 83 points
Heimir Bergmann, Stuart Ellis, Garry Elderbrand and Kevin Scott
Runners-Up : Team 2 : 81 points
John Gregory, Iain Stewart, Ragnar Hilmarsson and Martin Trevillion.
Other team scores in this category were: Team 7 = 81, Team 5 = 80, Team 6 = 78, Team 3 = 77, Team 1 = 74, Team 8 = 71.
Individual Category 2 Competition
Returns were marginally better than for Category 1, well played for mastering the course and the winning totals were exceptional taking all the plaudits, and prizes. These Amigos can be honourably mentioned first though, all those of you returning 35 points, too many to state, Mo Khan, Graham Etherington and Steve Fitzpatrick, 36 points and Mark Seed, 37 points (handicap 27.3).
Winner : Andy Wasik : 39 points
Runner-Up : Sus Tonnisen: 38 points
3rd Place : Paul Sawyers : 37 points (handicap 18.4)
Team Competition
With extra shots available there were two stand out Teams but every Pair put in the groundwork to achieve some very respectable scores, congratulations:-
Winners : Team 14 : 89 points
Chris Connorton, David Meek, Sus Tonnisen and Willie Custance
Runners-Up : Team 9 : 87 points
Paul Sawyers, Mark Seed, Graham Field and Chris Nicholls.
Other team scores in this category were: Team 12 = 86, Team 11 = 84, Team 13 = 83, Team 15 = 82, Team 10 = 81, Team 16 = 65.
