Hola AMIGOS
Font del LLop or 'Harry’s Place' was a real delight today; great golfing weather, great greens, great company and great hospitality. It was so nice to have Gary and Rosie Hansford, David Henshall-Brown and Graham Bathurst come down from the north to join us. FdL is challenging and despite obvious difficulties you just love playing there as you always seem to score so well! But let’s see how well you really played:-
Individual Category 1
A truly professional performance as you would expect from our elite golfers with some excellent returns. With only two podium places this week it was tough on the honourable mentionables, Sam McReynolds, 36 Stableford points and Iain Stewart (handicap 15.4) and Martin Hennessey ( handicap 15.2) 37 points only missed out to a lower handicap to the eventual Runner-Up. Congratulations everyone and especially to the winner who jumps straight into the Amigos Forties Club:-
Winner : Glenn Shiel : 42 points
Runner- Up : Martin Trevillion : 37 points (handicap 14.0)
Individual Category 2
What a show by these category golfers. Bob Lancaster’s, Gordon Hutchinson’s and Leonard O’Keeffe’s 34 points and Steve Fitzpatrick’s 36 points, whilst being honourably mentioned could not get close to our one/two. Well played everyone and especially the two on the podium, well, not quite so good for the winner whose return fell below his career best of 49 Stableford points on this course! But they too join the Amigos Forties Club:-
Winner : HARRY RICE : 46 POINTS (Yes, 46 points!)
Runner-Up : David Calderbank : 40 points
Individual Category 3
Not quite so epic as the other two categories but nevertheless some excellent returns and Dave Hughes, Andrew Smithurst and Graham Field can be well pleased with their scorecards. Congratulations to all and especially the top two with very good totals.
Winner : John Fox : 38 points
Runner-Up : Chris Dunne : 36 points
Team Competition
Exceeding standard par for a Team score of 92 points for 2 scores on Par 4’s and 5’s and 4 scores on all Par 5’s was a mere formality for every Team as Iain Stewart put some great combinations out, and especially his own, banking money on Harry!
Winners : Team 1 : 116 points
Kevin Scott, Iain Stewart, Harry Rice and Chris Dunne
Runners-Up : Team 11 : 109 points
David Henshall-Brown, Mark Cocker, Caz Clarke and Dave Hughes.
Other team scores were: Team 10 = 108pts, Team 9 = 107pts, Team 7 = 104pts, Teams 3 & 5 = 100pts, Team 4 = 95pts, Team 8 = 93pts, Team 2 = 92pts, Team 6 = 91pts.

Clever Tee shots resulted in four Two’s today. Graham Bathurst on Hole 3 and Hole 8 and Leonard O’Keeffe and Graham Field on the tricky 12th Hole.
You can all find your individual scores on the results page of the website in a couple of days or so.
April competitions see us visit Alhama Signature, 3rd , Hacienda Riquelme, 10th and Mar Menor, 24th and the first game in May is at Golf Altorreal. Whilst Alhama Signature has availability the others are more full but let us know as you never quite know.
Thank you to our Organisers and Helpers, Iain Stewart, Harry Rice, Dave Hughes, Brian Platt, Bob Lancaster, Ron Weller and Liz Murty. It was a very messy week with many changes but everything seemed to go to plan in the end. We have brought our Have I Booked facility up to date, by the way, and on a weekly basis, so please do use it to check your bookings and cancel if you cannot play as it will save so much time for us.
Let’s look forward to Alhama Signature which might prove to be a somewhat better experience than its reputation has recently suggested.
Hasta luego
Graham🤓👍
