Hola AMIGOS
Thank you all for your support today at Lo Romero where we turned down the heat and turned up the blowers for your comfort! It’s always good to see a happy crowd of regulars, irregulars, returnees, rookies, Lo Romero members and new members from all over our area. And the golf wasn’t that bad either with some very good scoring. Let’s see how you did.....

Some very good ‘names’ can only be honourable mentioned, and they are John Boyle, 35 points, Kevin Scott and Dave Robinson, 36 points and Hans Nout, 37 points. Well done guys but your 1,2, and 3 returned some better scores separated by handicaps. Congratulations:-

Winners : Team 7 : 104 points
Kevin Scott, Dave Maskens, Steve Fitzpatrick and Gordon Hutchinson

There was some excellent and indeed, astonishing, sharpshooting today and recipients of prizes were for Nearest the Pins: Dave Maskens, Hole 5; Harry Llewellyn, Hole 9 (In 2); Tom Duncan, Hole 11 (In 2) and Ron Weller, Hole 18 (In 3) and for Two’s: Dave Maskens, Mick Hughes, and Steve Hughes on Hole 5 and Shaun Fenwick on hole 12.
Amigos Summer Swing continues with weekly games throughout August with visits to La Torre, Campoamor, Altaona Village and Golf Altorreal and next week, 03 Aug’23 is different with an inaugural fun Pitch and Putt competition followed by a Paella lunch at Torre Pacheco! It’s also a Spain Federated golf course, generally in very good condition and will test your short game no matter what standard of golf you play. And let us know straight away if your non-golfing partner wishes to attend especially for catering numbers.
Finally, we are so pleased to announce our AMIGOS RYDER CUP Captains both appointed by the Organisers. Captain EUROPE is ANNETTE DEELEY and Captain AMERICA is STEVE FITZPATRICK. We wish them well in their roles. The 64 Players making up the Teams will be selected randomly by the Captains at La Finca on 07 Sep’23. The players have been selected from the initial registration list and reserve list in the fairest and most timely manner possible. Please check out that list on the Ryder Cup website page. If you do want to join the reserve list please do send me an email. So looking forward to the event!
Thanks too for your support you Organisers, Iain Stewart Bob Lancaster, Brian Platt, and Andrew Smithurst.
I hope to see your continued support with your names on future registration and start sheets should you be spending summer with us in Spain?
Hasta luego
Graham
