27/12/24 LA FINCA

ARCHIVED RESULT FROM

Hola AMIGOS
That's the Race to La Finca over and done with, so, who was the overall Champion and the Tier Winners?  Well you won't find out here!  You'll have to wait until 23 Jan'25 where the awards will be presented at our Thursday Roda Golf Competition giving ourselves time to fully evaluate the season and prepare the prizes.
Whilst I could not be there myself you all looked as though you thoroughly enjoyed yourselves, though a tad cold, and I am sure that the newbies and guest's introduction to La Finca will be coming back for more!
The scoring was very good overall and, nay, impressive for the winners!  Let's see how you did..........
Category 1 : Individual
It's always good form, although disappointing for the individuals concerned, to see Honourable Mentions for par scores and offer pats on the backs of David Doonan and David Henshall-Brown, 35 stableford points and Stewart Dennerley, Ken Crown and Alan Kilminister, 36 points.  It's the top two that deserve the true plaudits and welcome the winner and last entrant for 2024 into the Amigos Forties Club Hall of Fame!  Congratulations
Winner : Sam McReynolds : 42 points
Runner-Up : Iain Stewart : 37 points
Category 2 : Individual
A little shy of the Category 1 players but non-the-less some very good performances by our Honourably Mentions 'handouts'.  Well played Tom Duncan and Bea Van Rijn, 33 points and Diane Nicholls and Liz McReynolds, 34 points apiece but very well played the top two and resounding total for the winner.
Winner : Mike Kitchen : 39 points
Runner-Up : Andrew Smithurst : 35 points
Team Competition
Some very good Team combinations were put together and in aiming for 108 points to achieve par you all made a very good attempt with 6 Teams achieving scores above the target, very well played together everyone.  The podium places were taken by even better scoring though and the Winning Team were a class apart. Congratulations
Winners : Team 1 : 125 points
Sam and Liz McReynolds, Tom Duncan and Iain Stewart
Runners-Up : Team 9 : 118 points
Carol Henshall Brown, Lesley Mifsud, Heimir Bergmann and Mike Kitchen
3rd Places : Team 2 : 115 points
Gary Atkinson, Chris Dunne and Stewart and Zuzana Dennerly.

Other team scores were: Team 11 = 119pts, Team 10 = 109 pts, Team 7 = 107 pts, Teams 4 & 6 = 103pts, team 5 = 102pts, Team 8 = 100pts, Team 3 = 90pts.
On target with tee-shots closing in on the Flags on the Par 3's were, Emmett Loftus, Hole 3; Andrew Smithurst, Hole 6; Cameron Crown, Hole 13 and Gary McAlpine on Hole 16.  And rounding off with excellent 2's were;  Bob Lancaster and Roy Lawlor, Hole 6 and Gary Atkinson, Ellis Butler, David Doonan, Peggy Gijsels and Mike Kitchen all on Hole 16.
Thank you all for supporting this golf adventure especially, again, the debutants and guests alongside all of you regular Amigos.
I will follow up with notices at next week's competition, but I do have availability at El Valle, the first competition next year and after the hangovers have had time to disperse!  Followed by Desert Springs.  Please do register or let me know soonest.
And you will find all of the fixtures for 2025 on the website right through to this time next year where the final game of the Race to Alicante will be played!
FELIZ ANO NUEVO
Graham👍
