Hola AMIGOS
It was a very good day to introduce new players to Amigos, from Iceland no less, to have so many returnees re-join us and to introduce many of you to a new course. Whilst a tad expensive and a bit scruffy on the tee boxes it seemed to have your general seal of approval and we are pleased to have taken you there.
Despite the long holes and windy conditions it was a satisfactory day at the office for most. Let’s see:-
Category 1
I am sure that the next time around this track your scores will be higher but on the whole very respectable and Ragnar Hillmarsson, 35 Stableford points and Ron Weller, 36 and just missing out on a podium place, you are honourably mentioned. But many congratulations go to the top 3 with excellent Individual scorers and starting handicaps making a difference. And to get under par on the very tricky 4-3-2 Dusty Bin Team format the winners did so well.
Winner : Paul Taylor : 37 points (lower handicap, 11.2)
Runner-Up : Brian Platt : 37 points (12.1)
3rd Place : Bruce Charman : 36 points
Team Winners : Team 3 : 111 points
Bruce Charman, Andy Wasik, Graeme Bradbury and Ragnar Hilmarsson
Other Cat 1 team scores were: Team 7 = 106pts,Team 5 = 99pts, Team 1 = 97pts, Team 10 = 95pts
Category 2
Again a very good ‘day at the office’ for this division with many 30+ returns. Gary Conway, Gordon Hutchinson and Carol Brand you are mentioned with 32 points, well played and Dave Hughes honourably so with 34 points missing out on a podium place with a higher handicap. Many congratulations to the 123 who won the prizes but again handicap differentials were in play to sort out the first and second and as the 3rd/4th Players could not be separated by handicap, back nine, front nine so we’ll call that one a tie. The winning Team’s points tally was cleverly totalled and only one shot off the Category 1 Team.
Winner : Roger Krinks : 36 points (lower handicap, 18.3)
Runner-Up : Sylvia De Zwart : 36 points (32.5)
3rd Place : Sus Tonnisen and Hazel Price : 34 points
Team Winners : Team 2 : 110 points
Roger Krinks, Ash Patel, Rinus and Sylvia De Zwart
Other Cat 2 team scores were: Team 4 = 107pts,Team 6 = 100pts, Team 9 = 95pts, Team 8 = 94pts
Whilst a number of you may have felt intimidated by the 16th Par 3 (the Sawgrass replica Hole) our two sharpshooters were certainly not with Fiona Stanley-Harding and Heimir Bergmann recording twos, very well played!
Next up is our re-scheduled visit to Alhama Signature on Thursday 07 Mar’24, then La Serena on Thursday 22 Mar’24 and Hacienda del Alamo on Thursday 29 Mar’24. All presenting different challenges and we have managed to secure enough tee-slots for all those Amigos wanting to play.
And we have two or three spots left for our Amigos Anniversary Away Day to San Juan and Alicante Golf. If you haven’t been introduced to this great adventure yet you will find all of the details on the website by clicking ‘anniversary cup’. Please do check it out and come and join us!
Thank you to to all our special Amigos Organisers and Helpers who do their best to make your golf day seamless but they cannot perfect your golf swing though, that’s down to you!
Look forward to seeing you next week at Alhama Signature.
Hasta luego
Graham
