29/10/21 VISTABELLA

ARCHIVED RESULT FROM

Hola Amigos,
It was nice to get to play Vistabella again and both the course & the weather were great for good golf, even if the pace of play was slow due largely to a backlog caused by an inability to get the first few groups of the morning off on time due to bad light. We welcomed 3 new Amigos yesterday (David Ford, Maarten Ceusters & Peter Todhunter) and hope you all enjoyed the day & come back to play again. Unfortunately we were plagued with last minute injuries & a family bereavement this week, which left us with 3 ghosts, but we wish a speedy recovery to Sandy & Pat and Eddie leaves for USA with our best wishes and condolences.
The golf course proved to be a tough test for us all but, whilst no-one ‘smashed the course’, some decent golf was played:
Category 1
Honourable mentions are hereby awarded to Tom Duncan & Paul Taylor (33pts) and Sharon Seed (36pts). But this Divisions ‘big two’ were:-
Winner : Mick Lynch : 37 points
Runner-up : Brian Platt : 36 points (on lower handicap)
Category 2
There were a few queries after the scores were announced in this category but investigation showed the problem to be in the way the players score had been captured on their card & not a competition issue. Lesson to be learnt here: always ensure your score on the card is what you think it should be before handing to the adjudicator.  Honourable mentions go to Dennis Morrison & Patrick Dumon (34 pts) but the top 2 scores were::-
Winner : Richard Deeley : 36 points (lower handicap)
Runner-Up : Steve Egan : 36 points
Team Competition
This weeks team competition was split into 2 categories with a 4 ‘lower handicapper’ teams and 5 ‘Mid handicapper’ teams. Ironically, the top 2 scoring teams in Tier 1 & the top tier 2 team had a ghost representing them (all picked before the comp started).
Tier 1 Team Match:
This was a very close affair with Teams 3 & 4 both achieving 124 points, however, on the basis that 1 team had a combined handicap that was 1 shot less than the others:
Winners : Team 4 : 124 points
Annette Deeley, Peter Todhunter, Mick Lynch & ghost John Burgess
Runners-Up : Team 3 : 124 points
Brian Platt, Grahame Bradbury, Carol Henshall-Brown & ghost Peter Todhunter
Tier 2 Team Match:
This was a much more clear cut affair:
Winners : Team 7 : 110 points
Richard Macdonald. Harry Rice, Dave Hooper & ghost Maria Verelst
Runners-Up : Team 5 : 102 points
Maarten Ceusters, An van den Boore, Rudy Ceusters, Maria Verelst.

Today’s sharpshooters and receiving congratulations are:-
Annette Deeley – Holes 2 & 11; Sharon Seed – Hole 7; Grahame Bradbury - hole 15.
Commiserations to Dennis Morrison who apparently was closer than Annette on hole 11 but marked his name on the NTP marker for a different society (just not your day Dennis) 😊

There were No twos this week so the full collection of €32 will go into the new ‘Charity Pot’ that we will run until this time next year..

As always, places in games for the rest of this year and next year are starting to get booked up so do ensure you book your golf as soon as you know your travel details. Don’t forget our big Anniversary Cup event at La Sella Golf resort on Thursday/Friday 26/27 May’22 and some details are available on the website already (https://methodtsar.wixsite.com/hrgolfamigos/anniversary-cup-intro), so please consider the trip when you are planning your 2022 travel plans.  Much more on this in the coming weeks and months but please do check out www.lasellagolf.com as a taster!

Thank you all for taking part and hopefully we will see many of you again at El Valle next Thursday.
Hasta pronto
Brian
