Hola AMIGOS,
It was a real treat to introduce so many of you to Bonalba Golf yesterday and delighted that so many of you made the journey to join us and to cross it off your ‘golf courses played’ list!  The course presented a different and unfamiliar challenge and general feedback was very positive.  It is, apart from our Anniversary Cup Away Day to Mojacar in May, the furthest venue we travel to and we Organisers consider it was worth well the effort.
But how did you perform there?  Let’s see.
Category 1 : Individual
Overall the Category 2 players just had the edge on better scoring averages but maybe on a high stroke index course there were many more shots available to them. But a great effort nevertheless and these Amigos are honourably mentioned, Sam McReynolds, 33 points, Jill Sheridan, 34 points, Emmett Loftus, 35 points and Andy Wasik, 36 points.  Pole positions, however went with many congratulations to:-
Winner : Ron Weller : 37 points
Runner-Up : Cormac Sheehy : 36 points (On lower handicap)
Category 2 : Individual
Honourable mentions are handed out to a quartet of players having 35 points, Rudy Ceusters, An Van Den Borre, Dave Hughes and Graham Field but what a shame Henrik Tonnisen, 39 points would have won a category 9 times out of 10 but just missing the podium on this occasion with a slightly higher handicap.  But what an impressive display which was matched by the Runner-Up and a delighted new entrant to the Forties Club who played a stunning round of golf:-
Winner : Bob Lancaster : 40 points
Runner-Up : Mick Lynch : 39 points
Team Competition : Magic 7’s
With this format anything around 0 points is a good day at the office and +20 points would generally be a winning score but this winning Team smashed it!  All the plaudits belong to you and your Individual efforts too:-
Winners : Team 9 : +25 points
Emmett Loftus, Mick Lynch, Steve Fitpatrick and Bob Lancaster
Runners-Up : Team 5 : +14 points
Cormac Sheehy, Jill Sheridan, Rudy Cuesters and Sus Tonnisen
3rd Place : Team 6 : +13 points
Shane Bordier, Phil Brookes, Henrik Tonnisen and An Van Den Borre.
Other team scores were: Teams 10 & 8 = +3pts, Team 4 = +1pt, Teams 1&2 = 0pts, Team 7 = -7pts, Team 3 = -9pts.
He might have missed out on the Individual prizes but Henrik Tonnisen’s target shooting was spot on recording ‘Two’s’ on Hole 4 and Hole 11 and also Roger Wood’s ‘Two’ on Hole 8 was masterfully played.

Thank you everyone who played a part. There are so many golfing occasions coming up so don’t miss out and if the courses are showing ‘fully booked’ just drop me a mail as there are always last minute changes.  Thursday 06 Apr’23 sees us play Roda Golf, 13 Apr’23, La Torre and if you liked Bonalba you’ll love Alicante Golf which is a first for Amigos on Thursday 27 Apr’23.  And don’t forget Marina Playa, Mojacar on Thursday/Friday 25/26 May’23 where we can still accommodate one or two more.
Most of you will have been emailed separately regarding our Golden Bear v Amigos matchplay competition on Friday 16 Jun’23 at Villamartin which is a special event celebrating Golden Bear’s 10 Anniversary Year and with the addition of none golfing partners a presentation will be held at El Cason, Hacienda Riquelme with food and entertainment and all as per the attachment above.  Please do register for that as soon as possible as numbers will be limited.
