31/03/22 ALTAONA
ARCHIVED RESULT FROM
Hola AMIGOS
We had a lot of new & returning members playing at Altaona and it was great to see so many new faces. Whilst the course was a little wet we managed to avoid any nasty weather and almost everyone got round dry (sorry about the mud bath Brian Stead 😉). The course proved to be a challenge for all categories with the best score for the day being 34 points.
Category 1Â
The only player to get an honourable mention in this group, for scoring 30 points or more, was Kirk Green with a respectable 31points.
Winner : Alastair Sporne : 34 points
Runner-Up : Padraig Garrity : 32 points (lower handicap)
3rd Place : Klaus Hummel : 32 points
Category 2Â
No honourable mentions for this group I’m afraid with only the first 3 players scoring in the 30’s:-
Winner : Stefan Agten : 34 points (and just winning by virtue of a lower handicap)
Runner-Up : Bob Lancaster : 32 points
Third Place : Sharon Seed : 31 points
Category 3Â
An honourable mention to Rudy Ceusters for his solid 30 point tally:-
Winner : Harry Rice : 33 pointsÂ
Runner-Up : Rob Henshaw : 31 points (lower handicap)
Third Place : Lee Murfet : 31 points
Team CompetitionÂ
The format used for the team competition would typically require around 81 points to have a chance of taking a prize, but this proved too tough today with no-one scoring 80+.
Winners : Team 6 : 78 points
Alastair Sporne, Lee Murfet, Michael Joines and Brian Stead (ghost)
Runners-Up : Team 11 : 76 points (winning by virtue of lower handicap than team 4)
Leonard O’Keefe, Steve Jones, Stan Lalley & Harry Rice
Other team scores were: Team 4 = 76pts, Team 7 = 75pts, Team 9 = 73pts, Team 2 = 72pts, Team 8 = 71pts, Team 10 = 69pts, Team 1 = 68pts, Team 5 = 66pts & Team 2 = 57pts.
Congratulations to today’s sharpshooters; Nearest the Pin: Hole 3 = Tiina Hurst, Hole 11 = Brian Stead & Hole 17 = David Wells.
Ironically, none of these were holed-out for a 2, however 4 other 2’s were scored and congratulations go to: Jill Sheridan (hole 3), Tiina Hurst (hole 8), Rudy Ceusters (hole 8) & Harry Rice (hole 17).
I hope everyone enjoyed their day and well done to you all for playing a part and supporting Amigos, especially the rookies. Â You will find all of the results on the website shortly.
The next fixture is at Hacienda Riquelme on 7 Apr’22 so hopefully we will see many of you there.
Don’t forget about our Amigos Anniversary trip to La Sella on 26/27 May’22 where we can fit in a few more bookings and I would remind people already booked that deposits are due for payment.Â
Thank you to Bob & Harry for their help organising the day and we send best wishes to Graham Field who should now be enjoying himself in Philadelphia for the next few weeks.
Gracias
Brian
