What a great day at the Golf Altorreal Office today!  Thank you new members, returnees, regular and irregular Amigos for your part in making the day so enjoyable and for giving Lesley and Vince a good send off and wasn’t it an appropriate end to end our Summer Swing?  Whilst the aftermath of maintenance of greens was in evidence I do not think that it intruded on your golf game too much?  However, what great value for money!

A Team game was appropriate for this last game of the Summer Season and hope that you all enjoyed the Better-ball pairs format.  Individual points and handicap changes were not at risk today but how did you do?
Standard par was 72 but with even with an 85% better-ball pairs allowance scores were expected to exceed 80.  The podium places were taken by Teams who got very close, many congratulations:-

Winners :  Team (Pairs 11 and 12) : 80 points
Tom Hogg, Patricia Gingell, Rinus de Zwart and Sylvia de Zwart

Runners-Up Team (Pairs 13 and 14) : 78 points
Steve Cipriano, Wayne Goodwin, Steve Hughes and Ruud Woudstra

3rd Place : Team (Pairs 19 and 20) : 77 points
John Boyle, Bob Lancaster, John Fulton and Martin Trevillion

And well played you Target shooters who hammered the Flags:-
John Boyle, Holes 8 and 9 (In 3); Martin Trevillion, Hole 10 and Tom Hogg, Hole 11 (In 4) and well earned ‘Two’s’ prizes went to Tom Hogg on Hole 10 and Jill Sheridan, Simon Hastings and John Boyle on Hole 17.
Well played everyone else who supported the competition.

It was also an occasion to reward consistent Golfers who competed well over a set number of games (Amigos Golf is not always about Team games!) between May and the end of August. Many congratulations Order of Merit  Winners Steve Fitzpatrick, Category 1, 154 points and Graham Field, Category 2, with 142 points. And we start again next week at La Finca!
If you want to be considered for La Finca next Thursday 07 Sep’23 and have not registered please let me know straight away by email, but have to say no guarantees as it depends on who fills the extra tee-time first and there are one or two reserves! 

I’ll say more about the Amigos Ryder Cup next week when the draw is made by our Captains at La Finca.
Thank you for your interest in the Competition fixtures for 2024 and whilst I will not repeat here you will find them all listed on the website, ‘book a game’, ‘fixtures’, ‘schedule’. The site is now open for registrations from 01 Jan’24 thro’ to 27 Dec’24, as well as for the rest of this year.  You can book as many game as you like and hope that this availability will help when planning your visits to Spain.  All of the usual venues, competitions, matchplays and our ‘Anniversary Cup Away Day (more on this at a later time), special events, new competitions, etc. are all in there!  Please do give the site a visit and book for games to suit your timings.
