Despite threats of storms & Lightning, the weather was beautiful for the inaugral Amigos Ryder Cup. The organisers and helpers were preparing at 0700hrs and by 0720hrs the Check-in area was buzzing with activity. Everyone got off on time and the teams started to return to the clubhouse from approximately 1245hrs where they completed scorecards their and enjoyed some cool beers. As more teams arrived questions were asked about the results but this was kept secret from everyone (incl other organisers) by the Scores Adjudicator until the sealed envelope was handed to the Amigos Captain for announcement at the presentation. Some time after everyone had arrived back we transplanted ourselves into the El Cason restaurant where we enjoyed what can only be described as a magnificent culinary treat that was not only perfectly in keeping in the Ryder Cup tradition but also copious in its quantity. Jose and his team 'did us proud'. After lunch came announcements & presentations. When the scores were unveiled it transpired that the USA team had achieved a 20.5 - 11.5 victory over the European team and the trophy was duly collected by Dave Robinson (Captain America). Players from both teams were presented with memento Ryder Cup /Amigos branded Vice Pro golf balls to remember the day by and the huge Amigos Ryder Cup cake was cut by the winning captain. Checkout the photo gallery to see a collection of pictures taken for us by Brian Stobbs throughout the day. The 'predict the score' contest was won by Patricia Gingell - solo winner who successfully forecast the 20.5 win for the USA team and walked away with the full €38 sweepstake pot.
