Hola Amigos,
What a great day Thursday was with the weather being perfect for our second Amigos Ryder Cup match and, although a bit blowy, remaining nice for the evening event where everyone really seemed to enjoy themselves.

The run up to the event wasn’t without its dramas but thanks to everyone’s help we managed to align ‘available buggies’ with ‘essential buggy’ users and had minimal impact on the start sheet pairings. The golf itself seemed to go very smoothly and despite many players concerns regarding scoring, there were no issues with the cards and everyone seemed to enjoy the variety that this unique event format brings.

Thank you to everyone that donated items for our ‘Prize Draw’ where there were some excellent prizes to be won for the lucky ones amongst us. You all will know the score by now 31 – 25 win to America and a full breakdown of the individual group scores is available on this page. A new Photo Album will be added imminently with a selection of the photos from the day, taken by our resident photographer, Graham Platts.

Linda Portlock was our resident sharp-shooter guaranteeing her prize with a magnificent shot in the last group out, to win a superb prize to be taken at Finca Tres Molinas.

Gordon Hutchinson & Graham Field shared the money for the 'Predict the Score' competition, each receiving €23.

I would also like to repeat my thanks to the 4 helpers (Harry Rice, Graham Platts, Tanya Platts & Chris Simmonds) without whom the day would not have been anything like as smooth & enjoyable. Equally, a big thanks to the other committee members (Bob Lancaster, John Mair & Graham Field) who were pivotal in pulling the day together, doing lots of work behind the scenes both beforehand and on the day.

Most of us will currently be intently watching the Ryder Cup action at Whistling Straits and wishing the European team well in their challenge to come back from a slow start. In the meantime, we will start thinking about our next Amigos Ryder Cup event which will be in 2023 and look forward to having you all there again in 2 years time.
