The second Order of Merit event of 2023 saw 164 different players competing in what would have been the hottest average temperatures we have ever played in. This quadrimestre repeated last year in that a clear leader in Div 2 was promoted into Div 1 during the event. This event was composed of 11 games and the 'cut-off' handicap for Division 2 dropped marginally to 18.6, with anyone lower being in the Division 1 category. A total of 33 players managed to complete the full 4 qualifying games with 12 managing to hit the maximum 6 game tally & and extra 8 managing 5 games.

Division 2 was the 'Steve Fitzpatrick show' - until is suddenly wasn't, rapidly establishing a massive lead over Bob Lancaster who had started very well in his first 4 games. Unfortunately Bob could not improve on those first 4 scores (136pts) and was not only caught by Gordon Hutchinson who amassed 139pts, but also edged out of 3rd place by Ken Sewell who had the same total score but a better '4th best' score. Suddenly everything changed as Steve Fitzpatrick was promoted into Div 1. This seemed to be exactly the jolt that our eventual winner needed as he improved a very average first 4 scores with a round 5 score of 46 points at La Finaca and a solid 33 points at Lo Romero. Congratulations go to our clear winner who was Graham Field, with a final score of 142 points. 

We had some fine scoring again this Trimestre with 9 (qualifying) scores of 40+ points with the standout score being the 46pts from Graham Field. There was 1 score of 44 points, 1 score of 43pts, 1 score of 42pts, 1 of 41 points, plus 4 others of 40 points.
