The Amigos handicaps are managed in the Handicap Master system that is shared with HR Golf Society & Golden Bear Golf Society, whenever you play a qualifying game with any of these 3 societies your handicap will be adjusted accordingly. The system is not affiliated to the World Handicap System so your WHS handicap (if you have one) will not be automatically updated when playing in any of the 3 societies.

The Handicap Master system was updated to use the new WHS calculation model on 28th April 2022 so many members will see a change in their handicap from the week previous to that and are now more likely to see more rapid changes (both upwards & downwards) in their handicap as they input scores. For players that only play occasionally in games organised by one of the HM managed societies (yet play regularly elsewhere) we will usually align their handicap in the HM system (subject to seeing a handicap certificate), however, changes are not typically made to the HM system unless the difference is at least 1.0.

Where players play regularly and build a history of scores within the HM systems we will not 'automatically' realign to other system handicaps (even if greater than 1.0 variance exists) unless there is both: (a) a sizeable period of absence between the last HM results and the review date and (b) a significant number of qualifying rounds have been played during that period. In those circumstances, we will look at the scores during that period and make a reasonable adjustment to the Handicap Master handicap to reflect the more recent scoring.

As a group, representatives of the 3 societies will review players scoring performance annually and this may result in a 'general play adjustment' being made. Additionally, we will consider making 'general play adjustments' in exceptional situations where people have suffered a 'long term' injury or illness that is likely to have impacted their ability to play at the same level they previously achieved.

If you click on your name in the list you can access details of all the scores that have contributed to your handicap and see how your handicap is trending, hopefully downwards 😉.
