PLATINUM ORDER OF MERIT - CURRENT STANDINGS

HOW DOES THE 'ORDER OF MERIT' WORK?

The HR Amigos 'Order of Merit' was revamped in 2022 and whilst continuing to be competed over a four month period with 3 competitions per year the scoring rules have ben adjusted to make it winnable by more of our 'less frequent' players.

The 'Order of Merit' is now derived from totalling the best 4 stableford scores achieved by each player over a specified 4 month period (quadrimestre). Up to 13 Amigos games are played over 4 months but could vary slightly due to holidays, match play games etc. If a player competes in more than 6 qualifying games within the 4 month period, only their first 6 games will be used to calculate their Order of Merit score. In the event of a tie, the best 4th then 3rd then 2nd score will win. If this remains a tie then the person playing the fewest games will win and if still a tie the best 5th & 6th score will be used to separate the players.

The Order of Merit competition has also now been split into 2 divisions, so there is even more opportunity to win. At the start of any quadrimestre the average handicap of all the players in the Amigos database that have played in an OOM qualifying game will be calculated and that average will be the cut point for the allocation of players into Order of Merit 1st & 2nd division tables. It will be possible for a player to be relegated / promoted between divisions during the quadrimestre if they are close to the cut-point as their handicap moves up or down. If this occurs, the individual will retain all the points scored (irrespective of division) and move into the appropriate ranking position on the leaderboard within their new division.

Whatever the specific type of competition played on the day (except for Matchplay, Bogey & Texas Scramble), the equivalent Stableford points are identified and added to the tracking spreadsheet. An update to the 'Order of Merit' tables will be posted on this website each week. Whatever the format of competition played (even if a better-ball) it is important that you record your actual score for every hole (unless you cannot score any stableford points on a hole). If you don't make an entry, nothing can be added to your 'Order of Merit' scores and your total could end up being lower than it should be. Additionally, your handicap record cannot be updated so you could miss out on a handicap increase or reduction.
