AMIGOS STANDARDS AND PRINCIPLES
The Amigos endeavour to encourage relaxed & enjoyable, but competitive, games. To ensure this, we operate a consistent set of standards that we apply to both booking and playing all our games, these are summarised below:

MEMBERSHIP & HANDICAPS
-
From 1st Jan each year, all members must pay a €10 membership fee (reduces to €5 if 1st game is in Oct/Nov/Dec). This 'one-off' payment applies if they play 1 game or 40 games within the 12 month period from 1st Jan to 31st December.
-
All new members must provide a copy of an official handicap certificate
-
We invariably play 'team games' so all golfers need to be of a certain standard to make a valid contribution to a team where often 'all 4 or best 3 scores' count. To ensure this, we operate a minimum handicap requirement for all new members of: Men = 28; Ladies = 32. We cannot accept new members if they have not reached this standard.
-
Maximum 'playing handicap' (incl slope), allowed for any player will be capped at 36 for all competitions.
- Handicaps are managed via the HR Golf Handicap Master System using WHS calculations
-
If a member's 'home course' handicap is >1 shot different from their Amigos handicap they should submit a handicap certificate so their Amigos handicap will be adjusted. This applies to both increases & reductions.
BOOKING
-
If you book - you turn up to play
- Late reductions in numbers cause problems, create additional workload and can cost the society money.
-
If you cannot play, try to find a replacement and notify Graham Field asap
-
If you want to add another player(s) but the event is full, contact Graham Field who will help if he can
-
Sometimes additional tee times can be obtained or at least a reserve list held
-
-
All Players must pay their fees prior to playing
-
Many courses will insist players additionally pay Spanish Golf Federation fees of (€2 or €3) on top of the green fees. This is mandatory unless the player has already purchased a 12 month Spanish Golf Federation membership.

PLAYING
-
Putt-out on all holes (No Gimmies)
-
Play ball as it lies (No 'Pick and Place')
-
Any necessary amendments to this rule will be notified on the day of the match
-
-
Pick up if you cannot score any Stableford points
-
All game participants must contribute into the matchday prize fund (usually €6 (incl charity 2's entry) ), which will be redistributed as Team & Individual winners & runner-up prizes
-
Have fun & enjoy it - you could be working instead - but we respect other players & display good ettiquette!
-
You won't get rich on Amigos winnings with: team, pairs & singles formats often being wrapped into the same day.
-
Try to maintain a good pace of play - nobody likes slow play
-
Record individual scores on all holes (even if your score is not required in the team competition) to enable "Order of Merit" scores to be calculated and handicap adjustments made correctly
